The Cardinals re-signed wide receiver Jeremy Ross and linebacker Gabe Martin to one-year contracts on Monday, adding a pair of depth pieces to the roster.

Ross joined the team in mid-December in the wake of Michael Floyd's release. He played in two games, catching four passes for 37 yards in the finale against the Rams, including a 4-yard touchdown.

He was set to become an unrestricted free agent but will get the chance to push for a roster spot in training camp.

Ross, who will be 29 next season, has kick and punt return experience. Coach Bruce Arians said earlier this offseason he was looking for a player who could do both in order to take cornerback Patrick Peterson off punt return duties.

Martin played sparingly on defense before a season-ending knee injury in mid-November, but proved valuable on special teams.

Martin was an exclusive rights free agent, so the Cardinals needed only to tender him a minimum offer to keep his rights.

The Cardinals now have 17 unrestricted free agents scheduled to test the open market on March 9. Ross was the last wide receiver left unsigned, but inside linebacker is more in flux with Kevin Minter and Sio Moore both pending free agents.

Ross played for the Jets in 2016 before catching on with the Cardinals. He has also spent time with the Raiders, Ravens, Lions and Packers. Martin signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Bowling Green in 2015.
