Fourth-round pick the fifth member of draft class to sign within past week

There was plenty of talk about Dorian Johnson's drop in the draft because of concerns about his liver condition.

The Cardinals' fourth-round pick is happy to put that conversation behind him.

The rookie guard signed his four-year contract on Friday, the final bit of paperwork he needed to clear before turning his entire focus to the field.

"I'm the type of guy where I know my worth, so I didn't let any of that distract me," Johnson said. "Now that it's all out of the way, though, it's a relief knowing I have my team."

Johnson became the fifth of the seven-member draft class to sign his contract within the past week, joining third-round pick Chad Williams, fifth-rounders T.J. Logan and Will Holden as well as sixth-rounder Rudy Ford. First-rounder Haason Reddick and second-rounder Budda Baker are the two who have yet to sign.

While offensive linemen don't usually play early as rookies for the Cardinals, Johnson does have a solid pedigree, as he was projected as a second-day selection before the medical issue emerged.

Just as Johnson isn't worried about the past, he's not looking too far into the future.

"I think whenever you focus on the little things, you can one by one piece them all together," Johnson said. "And then once you have those pieced together, you can start setting the big goals. But you can't really even get your feet in the water until getting acclimated with how things are going to be first."
