With a new coach in place, Steve Keim knows his place with the Cardinals will continue long-term as well.

The General Manager signed a contract extension Monday through the 2022 season, as he heads into his sixth season as the team's GM. That lines him up with head coach Steve Wilks, whose initial deal with the team is a four-year contract through 2021 with a team option for 2022.

Keim, who last received a new contract in 2015, was heading into the last year of his current deal although the Cardinals held a team option for 2019.

Keim, 45, is going into his 20th season with the organization. Since his promotion to GM, the Cardinals are 49-30-1 in the regular season, a .619 winning percentage that ranks seventh in the NFL in that time.

"Steve's performance and accomplishments as Cardinals GM speak for themselves," Cardinals president Michael Bidwill said in a statement. "His role in the team's success over the last five seasons is undeniable. This new contract ensures that he will continue to shape our success going forward and we are thrilled about that."

Keim earned NFL executive of the year honors from Pro Football Talk in both 2013 and 2014, and was named the Sporting News NFL executive of the year in 2014.

In 2014, the Cardinals tied the franchise-record for wins in a season with 11, and then bested that the following season with 13 wins on the way to an NFC Championship game appearance.

"There is a lot of work to be done this offseason and I rarely think about the things that work," Keim said late in the 2017 season. "The things that race through my mind are the things that didn't work or the things I need to improve on personally. I take it personal. It's one of those things that keeps me up at night and one of the things that fuels me to keep improving this roster."
