OK, a quick overview of the Cardinals as we wait for the second-round pick:
-- Wells is an interesting case. Both Rod Graves and Ken Whisenhunt seemed thrilled to get him and that is to be expected. Where he fell on their draft board compared to the other runners, we don't know. This scouting report from Scouts Inc. questions his work ethic a bit, but certainly not his talent. I think being around such hard workers as Tim Hightower and Jason Wright will rub off, however, and if he does slack, Whisenhunt won't be afraid to let him know. I have also heard new RB coach Curtis Modkins isn't exactly going to let things slide either.
-- In round two, I expect defense, and I expect an outside linebacker. You never know, but that would be conventional wisdom.
-- As expected, no one really fought to try and acquire Anquan Boldin. Is it the price it would probably take (even though the Cards never really set one)? Is it the mega-contract he'd want and dealing with Drew Rosenhaus (that had to play a major role)? Whatever it is, Boldin is going to stay a Cardinal. We'll see how bumpy that gets, starting with the minicamp next week.
