Some afterthoughts about Beanie, after my main story about the toughness questions. One person I spoke with figured it might be a pain tolerance issue, why it comes up. But at the same time, Wells plays with pain. Better yet, these were the words this person used to describe Wells: passionate, emotional, leader, perfectionist. I can't see how that doesn't translate well going forward. You hope he isn't dinged so much he falls behind, but that shouldn't happen either. He was also described as a hard worker, and indeed, Wells said he already has a plan in place with running backs coach Curtis Modkins (pictured below with Wells) to keep up on the plays until Ohio State's school lets out June 13 (remember, Wells can't come back to OTAs until school ends).
What else? OK, he's 38 hours short of a degree, about right for a guy who came out of school as a true junior. He called Arizona his "vacation home" jokingly, after Ohio State played two bowl games when he was in school. His favorite spot? Mastro's City Hall steakhouse in Scottsdale. He said he was so excited to get a text message from Kurt Warner when he was drafted – especially when he and his mom remembered watching Kurt and the Rams beat the Titans in the Super Bowl "when I was in sixth or seventh grade." Ouch.
