Along Came (Dockett's) Spider

So we wonder what these players do in the down time in the dorm room. Darnell Dockett apparently strikes up a relationship with a spider.

Through Twitter – and we know how much that means to him – Dockett spoke to the world about the spider he found in his room last night. A sample of his night: "i took a jar from the kitchen in our dorm and caught her- i think she like me. look she smiled for the first time ever i got a pet spider" (If you are interested in the string of tweets, you can see most of them if you click here, here, here, here, and here.)

I couldn't let it go without asking, so after practice this morning, I followed up on the spider Dockett named "Becky."

"I was serious about it," Dockett said. "It's still in the jar, but I'm probably going to let it out, though. I saw him climbing the wall and was about to smash it, and I said, 'You know, I'm going to get a jar' and I couldn't find one. But I found a container and just put a plate on top of it.

"I do want to try and feed it first. Just go outside, kick around, find a bug or something and dump it in there. I did that before. I had a snake one day and I held it up and gave it a pet mouse, and (the snake) ate it. Did that in college."

Dockett used the opportunity to point out he really isn't scared of anything. He went swimming with sharks this offseason (in a cage of course). There are no sharks in Flagstaff, though, so he's stuck working with spiders (although the picture below is merely an approximation of Becky and not the real deal).
