Snapshot: San Francisco's close-loss woes continued, as it dropped a fifth consecutive game by three points or fewer. The 49ers had the ball with a chance to win, but a dubious offensive pass interference call on wide receiver Pierre Garcon helped doom their chances.
Notable: Starting quarterback Brian Hoyer was benched and replaced by rookie C.J. Beathard. Hoyer was 4-of-11 for 34 yards before getting pulled. Beathard finished the game 19-of-36 for 245 yards with a touchdown and an interception. First-round pick Solomon Thomas had a team-high nine tackles, a sack and two tackles for loss in the game.

Bye-week synopsis:The Seahawks aren't clicking on all cylinders yet, but came away with a critical road win against the Rams in their most recent game to keep the NFC West race tight. Seattle's offensive line continues to be problematic, and there are legitimate questions about this team's ceiling if that doesn't get fixed.
However, the Seahawks still have quarterback Russell Wilson and a top-shelf defense that gives them a chance every week. Seattle has started slowly in past seasons before coming on strong. They are aiming for a fourth division title in five years, and it's shaping up to be a good race with the Rams and Cardinals also in the mix.
Next up: The Seahawks travel to play the Giants in Week 7.

Snapshot: A pair of special teams touchdowns propelled the Rams to a road win over Jacksonville. Pharoh Cooper returned the opening kickoff 103 yards for a score and Malcolm Brown returned a blocked punt for a touchdown.
Notable: Rams quarterback Jared Goff was only 11-of-21 passing for 124 yards with a touchdown, but the team didn't need a lot of offense in this one. The defense gave up a 75-yard touchdown run to Leonard Fournette in the first quarter but stiffened from there. Los Angeles took sole possession of first place in the NFC West with the win.
