Running around here in the afternoon, trying to squeeze in this blog entry between the trip to USC and my son's basketball practice (it's all sports, all the time!), I just wanted to touch base on a couple of quick things. First, contrary to reports, owner Bill Bidwill was not at USC today, nor was head coach Ken Whisenhunt I don't think it was meant as an April Fools joke). I'll have all the details in a story I will hopefully have written/posted later tonight. It was quite the road trip. Spending a chunk of the day around GM Rod Graves I can say the hunt for veteran free agents hasn't stopped, although nothing worked out today when something looked like it might. Graves does hope to ramp up Karlos Dansby negotiations this week as well.
The trip to USC was the last pro day teams needed to hit. The Cards already started draft prep meetings earlier this week. As director of pro personnel Steve Keim mentioned a few times today, it's player-pickin' season. (Below, by the way, defensive coordinator Bill Davis -- tan pants, black shirt -- is one of the many sets of eyes watching USC linebacker Rey Maualuga.)
