The Cardinals activated running back D.J. Foster back to the practice squad Tuesday, now that Foster has healed from his quadriceps injury.
Foster had been on the practice squad/injured reserve, which like its regular injured reserve counterpart, allows players to come back after a minimum of three weeks. Foster got hurt playing in the season opener at San Francisco.
The Cards also activated tight end Justin Johnson to the practice squad. Johnson was also on the PS/IR with a bad ankle. They re-signed offensive lineman Rick Leonard to the practice squad.
Room was made by releasing three from the practice squad, including veteran safety T.J. Ward. Fellow safety Kentrell Brice and cornerback Jalen Davis were also let go.
Foster was placed on the practice squad coming out of training camp, but was elevated for the Week 1 game against the 49ers.
