The Cardinals were awarded wide receiver Cobi Hamilton off of waivers.
After losing a pair of wide receivers in free agency, the Cardinals have added one.
The team was awarded Cobi Hamilton Thursday after claiming him off waivers following his release from the Houston Texans. Hamilton spent time on both the active roster and practice squad of the Texans in 2017, before signing a futures deal after the regular season.
Hamilton, 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, had one catch for eight yards last season. For his career, he has 18 catches for 242 yards and two touchdowns since he was drafted in the sixth round of the 2013 draft by the Bengals.
Since then, Hamilton has spent time with the Eagles, the Bengals a second time, Dolphins, Panthers and Steelers before going to Houston. His time in Carolina – when Cardinals coach Steve Wilks was there – was limited to the 2016 offseason, getting signed in January and being cut at the outset of training camp.
The Cardinals already lost free-agent wide receivers John Brown (Ravens) and Jaron Brown (Seahawks). Larry Fitzgerald is returning for a 15th season, but behind him, the receiving corps is thin. J.J. Nelson and 2017 third-round pick Chad Williams remain on the roster, as well as Carlton Agudosi and Rashad Ross.
The Cards also hosted free-agent wide receiver Jordan Matthews on a visit last week.
