Linebacker Tanner Vallejo was making a push for a roster spot in the preseason but was ultimately released.
Now Vallejo, whom the Cardinals originally claimed off waivers last offseason, gets his chance to be on the 53-man roster, after the team promoted him from the practice squad Wednesday among a handful of roster moves.
The Cardinals also elevated outside linebacker Kylie Fitts from the practice squad and signed veteran defensive lineman Caraun Reid.
The Cards cut outside linebacker Pete Robertson to make room, already owning two open spots after Monday's cuts of cornerback Tramaine Brock and running back Zach Zenner.
Vallejo played nine games for Washington this season after the Redskins claimed him on waivers following his release in Arizona. Fitts was a sixth-round pick of the Bears in 2018. Reid was a fifth-round pick of the Lions in 2015 and has played for five different teams. He has 3½ sacks in 44 career games.
The Cardinals also added three to their practice squad, including the return of quarterback Drew Anderson, who was with the team during the preseason. Also signing were wide receiver Saeed Blacknall and defensive lineman Lyndon Johnson.
