Chandler Jones and the story behind the broken sled

By now, many of you have seen the video from Monday's practice where defensive end Chandler Jones obliterated a blocking sled. (I'm sure some have not -- which is why I have embedded the video -- but as of the last time I looked, it was at 1.2 million views already.) Steve Wilks had some thoughts on Jones and his sled. And when I had a chance to ask Jones, he had some thoughts too.

Wilks took us back to a few moments before that, when he had pitted Jones against D.J. Humphries in that padded-practice-opening one-on-one drill in front of the whole team. Humphries won that battle, and Wilks noted as such.

"Guys have pride," Wilks said. "Chandler probably wasn't pleased there with how he performed right there at the beginning of practice and he went down and took it out on the sled. We've got to replace that, but it was exciting to see."

Jones, however, begged to differ with his coach.

"That's not why," Jones said. "I'm just too powerful. You can write that down. Way too powerful." When it was pointed out how excited Jones looked on the video after realizing what he had done, Jones nodded his head. "I was like, '(Expletive), I forgot how powerful I was."
