Darius Robinson is "doing a good job" in his rehab, coach Jonathan Gannon said on Wednesday morning.
But his status has not changed, so the rookie defensive tackle will not be walking through that door, at least this week. The first-round pick was eligible for the first time to have his practice window opened, but the Cardinals did not do so. What that means exactly -- other than he won't play against the 49ers -- remains vague.
The Cardinals could use Robinson up front. That's a certainty, but that was something they knew all training camp and certainly the day he hurt his calf in practice. Gannon declines to get specifics about timelines for any injuries, calling such things "hypotheticals," and so what it means for Robinson's (eventual) return is in question.
Another rookie on IR, offensive tackle Christian Jones, did have his practice window opened on Wednesday. That means the Cardinals have three weeks in which to activate him to the 53-man roster. If they do not, he must remain on IR for the balance of the season.
