Hey there Cards Fans! Yesterday was a phenomenal day of using the simulators and shooting real live guns! BIG guns! Wooh! My shoulder sure is sore! Anyway, today we headed to the Airfield early in the morning to catch a flight back to Kuwait. While waiting for our last C130 flight we were able to visit the hospital. Face masks and blue bonnets on, we went into the operating room where a fine soldier was getting a hernia worked on. YES – we saw his insides AND the surgeon took a picture with us. Lol – crazy! It was a very routine and timed surgery so there was no danger to the patient
The flight to Kuwait was about 1.5 hours a few of us napped after our pilots did some tricky maneuvers in the air! It felt like a roller coaster! So much fun! One of the crew members was from AZ and a REAL fan of the Cardinals, so it was great talking to him.
The rest of our day in Kuwait consisted of doing an unscheduled meet and great with fellow Arizonian soldiers from Mesa! We chit chatted and they helped us with a video for the veterans game…stay tuned! We also went shopping in the PX for one piece swimsuits so we could swim in the pool. SO nice to go swimming in the horrid heat over there!
As the last days overseas concluded I was able to reflect on how much the men and women of the United States Military do for us. The sacrifices they make are indescribable, heart wrenching, admirable, and honorable. I am now and forever a different person from this amazing opportunity and I will pray for the soldiers, sailors, pilots, all of them, each and every day.
Now, when I look at the American flag I see something different. I knew I would be humbled by this experience and that I was. Thank you ALL for your service and for the freedom you give us each and every day!
