A toasty and fairly humid first day of OTAs is over. As I had mentioned earlier on Twitter, there were 73 of the 85 men on the roster at the 90-minute voluntary workout. Some absences were easily understood (rookie RB Beanie Wells and rookie WR Shane Morales each couldn't show because of school; Anquan Boldin and Darnell Dockett aren't expected to come at all because they want new contracts). The other veterans who weren't there -- Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald, Adrian Wilson, Sean Morey, Kenny Iwebema, Bertrand Berry, Leonard PopeĀ and Chike Okeafor -- figure to come around for at least some of the work during the next month. They always have in the past.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt doesn't address the media until tomorrow, so we don't have his thoughts. But things seemed to run fairly smoothly, considering there are no pads and players can only go so far. I did hear one veteran newcomer noting the heat will take some getting used to out here. But hey, it's supposed to drop about 10 degrees by tomorrow.
