There was a time when rookie contract negotiations would stretch through the summer and into training camp. This is no longer that time.

The slotted salary system has done away with those headaches, and the Cardinals may have had their easiest time yet this year.

All of the team's draft choices are already under contract after third-round pick Brandon Williams, fourth-rounder Evan Boehm and sixth-round choice Harlan Miller signed four-year deals on Monday. First-round choice Robert Nkemdiche and fifth-round picks Cole Toner and Marqui Christian signed on Friday.

Williams, a cornerback, was glad to make the signing official, but since it came in the middle of his workday, his mind was on other things.

"This feels good, but I'm ready to get to work," Williams said. "I wasn't worried about signing at all. I was worried about technique and getting into my playbook."

Boehm said he thought becoming an NFL player was a legitimate possibility after his offensive line teammate at Missouri, Justin Britt, was drafted by the Seahawks in 2014. Two years later, it came true.

Miller wore a Southeastern Louisiana shirt while signing his contract, and team president Michael Bidwill mentioned the success of another former small-school cornerback the Cardinals drafted – third-round pick Aeneas Williams, who was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014 after a storied career.

There's a long way to go for Miller or any of the other rookies to make that type of impact, but they are now officially in the fold as the offseason program continues.

The draft picks participated in rookie mini-camp over the weekend and had their first participation with the veterans on Monday.

"Signing is a part of it, but me working every day, that's what I'm looking forward to," Williams said.
