In an instant, Carson Palmer's dream season was over.
The quarterback knew it. The talk after the game was that tests needed to be done and the severity of Palmer's injury still had to be deciphered, but for Palmer, it was unnecessary. He knew as soon as his left knee buckled, he wouldn't be playing again in 2014.
It was another blow to a team that has absorbed many. And it was a crushing end for Palmer. He admittedly “cried like a baby” with the knowledge that not only would he not be playing but wouldn't be part of this "special" season the Cardinals have fashioned in 2014.
Coincidentally, the Rams game was the one chosen by the broadcast department to have Palmer wired. In the video above, you get a taste of Palmer's game against the Rams, the confidence with which he leads the offense – and the difficult way his year had to end.
"There is something special about this group and like I said before, that's what I am going to miss most is this opportunity," Palmer said. "It does not come along often."
