FRIDAY REPORT
Paris Johnson Jr. will miss the first game of his NFL career on Sunday.
The Cardinals left tackle injured his knee against the Patriots and has missed practice throughout the week. Offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum, who earned most of his run this season filling in for Jonah Williams, will fill in for Johnson.
"You can't put a price tag on it," coach Jonathan Gannon said of Beachum's versatility.
Linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. (concussion), Jesse Luketa (thigh), and running back Trey Benson (ankle) will also be inactive on Sunday. When asked about the possibility of elevating running back Michael Carter from the practice squad, Gannon said that was to be determined.
Running back DeeJay Dallas (illness) and right guard Evan Brown (neck) were each added to the report on Friday as DNP and are listed as questionable. Also questionable are defensive lineman Roy Lopez (ankle) and cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting (hand).
Kicker Matt Prater (left knee) and cornerback Elijah Jones (ankle) are also out and remain on IR.
Carolina will be without wide receiver Xavier Legette (hip). Wide receiver Jalen Coker (quadriceps) is questionable.
THURSDAY REPORT
The Cardinals inside linebacker room was thin at practice on Thursday. In addition to linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. being in concussion protocol, linebacker Kyzir White did not practice with an illness. The hope is he will be OK by Sunday. Krys Barnes, who stepped in for Wilson against the Patriots, is still expected to play a bigger role on Sunday if Wilson can't go.
The other new absentee at practice was Elijah Jones (ankle). Left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. (knee), running back Trey Benson (ankle), and linebacker Jesse Luketa (thigh) also did not participate.
Joey Blount (knee), linebacker Zaven Collins (neck), defensive lineman Roy Lopez (ankle), cornerback Max Melton (shin), cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting (hand), defensive lineman Darius Robinson (calf), and kicker Matt Prater (left knee) were limited.
Besides wide receiver Xavier Legette, all of Carolina's players that did not participate on Wednesday returned on Thursday.
WEDNESDAY REPORT
Left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. was out with an knee injury at practice Wednesday. There was a moment towards the end of Sunday's game where Johnson was limping along the sidelines.
Swing tackle Kelvin Beachum, who typically earns a veteran's rest day on Wednesday, was practicing on Wednesday in a limited role.
After leaving the Patriots game early, linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. and outside linebacker Jesse Luketa also did not practice on Wednesday. Wilson remains in concussion protocol and Luketa is nursing a thigh injury. Running back Trey Benson also did not practice with an ankle injury he suffered in the game.
Nine players were limited as the Cardinals prepare for the Panthers. Included in that list is safety Joey Blount (knee), linebacker Zaven Collins (neck), cornerback Elijah Jones (ankle), defensive lineman Roy Lopez (ankle), cornerback Max Melton (shin), cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting (hand), defensive lineman Darius Robinson (calf), and kicker Matt Prater (left knee), who made his return to the practice field.
Carolina's first-round pick wide receiver Xavier Legette did not practice with a hip injury. Nine other Panthers players did not practice, many of them for rest reasons.
