Matt Leinart talked about getting some work in – and some tips – from Tom Brady this offseason, when the two worked out together a few times in Los Angeles. Brady lives there now, and obviously Leinart hails from the area. The two even worked out at UCLA a few times, not a complete shock since Leinart mentor Norm Chow is on the Bruins staff and Leinart also knows UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel "fairly well." Anyway, one day the two are out throwing at UCLA when the current Bruins football team came out to the field. Seems they were conducting their offseason conditioning work when they happened upon one of the most famous USC quarterbacks.
"It was a little random for me," Leinart said with a smile. "I almost wanted to be wearing my SC jacket but that would have been real disrespectful."
Leinart said the tweaking of his game there was a step, and then he collaborated with new quarterbacks coach Chris Miller to fine-tune his technique. Leinart said he and Miller have worked on his over-striding and shortened Leinart's release a bit too. (Hat tip to the Big Lead for finding the photo.)
