The Ravens had been one of those teams everyone thought would make a play for Anquan Boldin earlier this offseason when the trade talk was going on. That passed ... until today. Ravens veteran wide receiver Derrick Mason has abruptly retired (thanks to an announcement on his agent's website) and now Baltimore suddenly has (even more of) a gaping hole at wide receiver. Mark Clayton and Demetrius Williams as starters? Wow. So whether the Cards would actually deal Boldin now, I don't know (I don't think so, but ...) but you know talk out of Baltimore will be that the Ravens have to acquire Boldin or Braylon Edwards or Brandon Marshall.
Nothing like having drama dropped right back into the days before training camp opens.
