It turned out that 2008 was a huge year for Larry Fitzgerald. Not only did he help lead the Cardinals to the Super Bowl that season, but his first born -- son Devin -- also arrived that year.
So when we set out to do a video about Fitz's remarkable playoff performance for that season (and it's been a long time in the making, trust me, but hiccups happen) we thought the idea of having Devin, who is an emerging star at Brophy Prep having just finished his junior season, narrate and appear would be an excellent move. OK, to be fair, we didn't know when we first put the plan into action that Devin was born in 2008, but serendipity is what it is.
What emerged when it was over was a piece we are all proud of, the first episode of a new series we are calling Cardinals Overtime. Generally, these episodes will be built around current players and themes, getting to know some of the roster for parts of their life off the field. Be on the lookout for when they drop.
But it also made sense to have Fitz kick off the series with one of his greatest stories, told not only by the guys who were there at the time, but also -- in keeping with the off-the-field idea -- weaving in the son who wasn't going to remember what happened in real time but is nevertheless linked to that moment.
