Odds and ends

Well, after the adventure I had a chance to take part in yesterday, the Cards were back to making a move today when fullback Dan Kreider signed a one-year deal. Barring something unforeseen, it seals the deal that last year's veteran fullback, Terrelle Smith, won't be back. That's a bummer on a personel level. It was great to talk to T. Smith, who became one of the big stories for the Cards in the playoffs when he relayed his very personal story about his dying mother. T. Smith was sobbing serious tears after the NFC Championship win, and that is one of my most lasting memories from the playoff run.

Meanwhile, the roster still seems set for the draft (although every time I say that, someone else comes in -- and by the way, the free agent that I mentioned that the Cards were trying to sign was not a fullback. Things remain in constant motion in a lot of ways.

Finally, no one should be surprised Anquan Boldin would say he'd love to play for the Dolphins. He calls himself a Florida guy and he is, and given his perspective on the situation, he's not going to bite his tongue on a question like that. Still, there are no trade talks going on with him and no one should think otherwise. His status, all the way around, hasn't changed from where it was back in January during the playoffs.
