Inside linebacker Gabe Martin (50) was among the 10 players the Cardinals put on their initial 2015 practice squad.
The Cardinals have set their first practice squad of 2015, bringing back six players they had cut – including running back Kerwynn Williams – and adding four others.
The players brought back are all names that were expected. Not only did the Cardinals keep Williams, but they also
brought back cornerback Cariel Brooks, inside linebacker Gabe Martin and wide receiver Jaxon Shipley, all of whom made a push to make the 53-man roster.
The Cards also brought back tackle Rob Crisp and guard Antoine McClain.
Among the new additions were defensive end Lawrence Okoye, the former British Olympic discus thrower who was cut by the 49ers; tight end Brandon Bostick, cut by the Vikings but best known as the Packer who fumbled away the onside kick to the Seahawks in last year's NFC Championship game; and cornerbacks Robert Nelson (Browns) and Leon McFadden (49ers).
Three cornerbacks are not a surprise given that the Cardinals kept only three cornerbacks on the 53-man roster. Bostick gives the Cardinals some insurance with the ongoing hamstring issues of tight ends Jermaine Gresham and Troy Niklas. Gresham and Niklas are expected back at practice this week.
