He spent the season on the practice squad, but quarterback Kyle Sloter is no longer with the Cardinals after signing with the Detroit Lions Saturday to their active roster. The Lions needed a quarterback after Jeff Driskel went on IR and Matthew Stafford was already hurt.
Given Sloter's practice squad status, in itself it isn't an earth-shattering development. But it does carry some weight given that Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was added to the injury report Friday with a hamstring issue and was listed as questionable for Sunday's game with the Rams. Murray practiced full Friday and seemed likely to play anyway. But if there was any doubt Murray could go, the Cardinals probably would've promoted Sloter to the active roster just in case, in addition to backup Brett Hundley.
Instead, Sloter is a Lion. The Cardinals have an opening on the practice squad. And Kyler Murray will get his first look at Aaron Donald and the Rams' defense.
