The Cardinals and the 100 Club of Arizona are partnering on a fundraiser in honor of fallen Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper Tyler Edenhofer for the benefit of his family and in support of injured troopers Sean Rodecap and Dalin Dorris at the team's annual "Red & White Practice" presented by University of Phoenix. The event takes place at University of Phoenix Stadium Saturday from 1:30-4 p.m.
When gates open for the "Red & White Practice" at 12:30 p.m., a barbecue will be held on the south lawn located near gate 1 at the southwest side of the stadium. All proceeds from the barbecue and from the 50/50 raffle being held during Saturday's practice will go to the 100 Club in support of the three troopers and their families.
"For 50 years running, the 100 Club of Arizona has stood behind the men and women who wear the badge, said Angela Harrolle, CEO 100 Club of Arizona. "Our hearts break when such tragedies occur such as this one involving Trooper Edenhofer and the other two injured troopers, both Dorris and Rodecap. We meet them under such unfortunate circumstances, but we welcome them in to our family for a lifetime."
DPS Trooper Edenhofer, 24, was killed in the line of duty on July 25. Hired in September of 2017, the U.S. Navy veteran graduated from the academy in May and was in the final days of his training when he was one of two troopers shot while attempting to take a suspect into custody along I-10 in the West Valley last week.
DPS Trooper Dorris was also shot during the incident, suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries while Trooper Rodecap was injured during the confrontation with the suspect.
More details on Saturday's "Red & White" practice will be announced soon.
