A little of this, a little of that on a Wednesday morning:
-- Even though an Anquan Boldin trade could happen on draft day, you'd think the framework would have to be in place. If Boldin were traded and he and agent Drew Rosenhaus weren't sure he was about to get a new contract, the new team could quickly inherit Boldin's anger. That's what makes this all so complicated. The back and forth continues on whatever is being said behind the scenes; Rod Graves said the Cards have never specified to teams what they want for Boldin and if there is one thing I have come across over the years is that Graves has a hard time not being honest on such matters. That said, the Baltimore Sun had a story after Graves talked yesterday quoting an (unnamed) source that the Cards starting point was the now legendary first- and third-round picks.
-- Interesting that the Jets would want Boldin, especially after the horror show he went through in the Meadowlands last year. If such a trade did happen, that first meeting between Eric Smith and Q would be one to see.
-- The draft party is coming Saturday at the Insight Club East at University of Phoenix Stadium. It starts at 12:45 p.m. and goes until 7 p.m. (the Cards' first-round pick, barring any trades, should be between 4:30 and 5 p.m.) Admission is free, with players, cheerleaders and Big Red on hand.
-- On a (much) lighter note, this is what happens when your star quarterback and your star wide receiver are coerced by a boisterous crowd into perhaps something they shouldn't be doing.
