There was more than a hint of irritation in Adrian Wilson's voice when I asked him earlier this week if people would see the Cardinals differently if they won Sunday. "Probably not," Wilson said in his monotone delivery.
"People are calling us the worst team to get to the Super Bowl," Wilson continued. "It fires us up because we know we're not the worst team ever. Most media probably don't want the Arizona Cardinals to play ever in a stadium where the Super Bowl is being played."
I wasn't so sure about that, but then I came across a blog item from the New York Daily News' Ralph Vacchiano (whom I consider a friend who I have known for many years now as a fellow beat writer). The headline? “Cards will win; Nobody will care.” At least he's picking the Cards, but it's harsh.
Then again, when you win a championship, the negative stuff tends to bounce off you. Just ask Patrick Roy.
