Tip Reiman has been a key part of the Cardinals' offense since he arrived as a rookie last season, one who was more about intangibles and outside-the-box score than any stats.
But the tight end won't be able to help any more in 2025, after hurting his right ankle on Sunday against the Titans. Coach Jonathan Gannon said on Monday Reiman would be going on Injured Reserve, his season over.
The Cardinals do have another blocking tight end, Travis Vokolek, on the roster to fill in for Reiman alongside Elijah Higgins and Pro Bowler Trey McBride.
"That's a big loss," Gannon said. "You've got to overcome it. Full confidence in Trey and Elijah, and Travis has been playing extremely well on (special teams). We've got to pick up the slack.
Reiman got hurt trying to grab a throw from quarterback Jacoby Brissett, the backup who came in for a passing play with Kyler Murray visiting the locker room with a foot injury. Murray returned to the game but his injury will be monitored this week. Gannon added that there were plays the Cardinals could not run because of Murray's situation.
Reiman, meanwhile, had to be carted off.
"I was on the field and it got pretty emotional with him," Higgins said. "I tried to be as close as I could to him in the moment. Tip is one of the guys who tries to do everything right. He has his own routine that is completely different than everyone else's, but he does everything right. Works his ass off in the weight room, works his ass off on the field.
"I want to carry the torch of what he represents for the offense. Being a physical guy, being a mauler, so hopefully I can (do) that."
Gannon also said that both cornerback Will Johnson and guard Will Hernandez were on snap counts for the game, and both held up in that framework. Johnson played 55 snaps. Hernandez, who hadn't played since Week 5 last season coming back from a knee injury, played 23 snaps.
