Ep. 864 - When you have a franchise quarterback, then you do everything in your power to surround him with talent; and not just on offense but on both sides of the ball. The Cardinals have their franchise quarterback in Kyler Murray, so build around him according to Cynthia Frelund and Marc Ross from the NFL Network. Frelund, an analytics expert, and Ross, a former front office executive, joined both Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck from the Scouting Combine last month in Indianapolis. In addition to QB1, the conversations with the two included what positions the Cardinals should focus on in the draft and just how "wide open" they believe the NFC West is in 2025.

Ep. 863 - It started with Josh Sweat. It continued with Dalvin Tomlinson. And let's not forget about the return of Baron Browning. The Cardinals made the defensive front a priority this offseason. And for good reason, based on last season. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss the investment the team has made at both defensive line and outside linebacker. That dovetails into a conversation about what to do with the 16th pick. Might the Cardinals bypass the defensive front with their first-round draft pick? Look to select a cornerback? What about an offensive lineman? The guys have fun with the latest round of mock drafts, because it is after all a Mock Draft Monday.

Ep. 862 - Yes, Josh Sweat and Dalvin Tomlinson are the two big-name free-agent additions. There was a third defensive player who received a multi-year contract from the Cardinals early in free agency and his name is Akeem Davis-Gaither, or ADG. He's someone who took advantage of an opportunity late last season with the Cincinnati Bengals, and he hopes to do the same here in Arizona. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman hear from ADG, who sat down with Zach in the TV studio. Zach also had the chance to interview Sweat, Tomlinson and Jacoby Brissett while they were in town; parts of those conversations are played on the show as we get to know the new names and the new faces on the team.

Ep. 861 - The regular season doesn't start for another six months. That said, GM Monti Ossenfort is big on being able to go into the draft without having to select a position of need; go with the best player available regardless of where they play. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck - after a week off, Dani is back - discuss whether that's what's been accomplished after the first week of free agency. Are there still positions where the Cardinals might want to address; what about guard, specifically right guard; is a veteran or speed wide receiver needed; and what are we to make of last week's visit by veteran cornerback Asante Samuel Jr.? Also, if you haven't heard, Marvin Harrison Jr.'s No. 18 jersey is now available.

Ep. 860 - Don't let the big smile fool you, Bird Gang. Dalvin Tomlinson is here to be a "disruptive" force on the line of scrimmage as he told both Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi following his introductory press conference on Friday. At 6-foot-3 and 325 pounds, the Cardinals new defensive lineman, yes, is a rather imposing figure. Tomlinson joined Craig and Paul in studio to talk about his "whirlwind" week; why he signed with the Cardinals; his pairing with Josh Sweat; and what he hopes to teach a young Darius Robinson. Also, Craig and Paul discuss the other two signings: quarterback Jacoby Brissett and wide receiver Simi Fehoko, the reported addition of offensive lineman Jake Curhan, what other roster moves might be next, and perhaps the biggest news of the week: Marvin Harrison Jr. jerseys are now available.

Ep. 859 - A mid-season addition a year ago, Baron Browning had a choice to make this offseason. And he chose to remain in Arizona. Why? He explained to both Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi when he joined the two in studio following his re-introductory press conference on Wednesday. Browning looks back at his eight games with the Cardinals in 2024; talks about the challenge of joining a new team in the middle of the season and who he leaned on when he arrived; why he believes he's a three-down outside linebacker; and gives his thoughts on the recent addition to his position room, Josh Sweat. Also, Craig and Paul discuss the return of wide receiver Zay Jones as well as offer their best to Roy Lopez and Khyiris Tonga, a pair of defensive linemen who have signed elsewhere in free agency.

Ep. 858 - Teams can sign their own free agents at any time. And that's exactly what the Cardinals have done with a handful of players. So, while Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman await the official word on the reported signing of pass rusher Josh Sweat, the guys discuss the return of offensive linemen Evan Brown and Kelvin Beachum, outside linebacker Baron Browning plus two key pieces on special teams, Joey Blount and Aaron Brewer; all were high on the list of players Craig and Zach wanted to see back in a Cardinals uniform. Also, Zach's been busy. He's got a great story on Starling Thomas' relationship with his mother, and he's been keeping track of all the mock drafts.

Ep. 857 - Whether it's defensive end, defensive tackle or edge rusher - all perceived needs, by the way - the Cardinals will be able to find a player who can make an impact right away in this year's draft. At least that's the feeling from Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus, their lead NFL Draft analyst, who joined both Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck from the Scouting Combine last week in Indianapolis. Sikkema, like most, is very high on the depth of the defensive line class. In addition to the draft, the conversation with Sikkema included his thoughts on last year's draft class and players like Max Melton and Dadrion Taylor-Demerson as well as Trey Benson who Sikkema believes can be part of "a great 1-2 duo" with James Conner.

Ep. 856 - Successful teams are good at the line of scrimmage. That's no surprise. It's also not a surprise that many believe the Cardinals will be active in trying to add to their offensive and defensive lines this offseason, and more specifically, during the 2025 NFL Draft. That was the focus of a couple of different conversations Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck had while at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis last week. First, they chatted with NFL Network Host Rhett Lewis, who raved about the hire of Justin Frye, a college teammate of his at Indiana. Then, Lance Zierlein, NFL Network Draft Analyst, stopped by to discuss Paris Johnson Jr. Darius Robinson, and why targeting the defensive front with the 16th pick makes the most sense.

Ep. 855 - In need of a defensive lineman? Or two? Want to upgrade the talent in the room? Add depth? Well, then you're in luck because the 2025 NFL Draft is loaded with prospects who can help a team, and maybe even help right away. At least that's the consensus from ESPN Draft Analysts Matt Miller and Jordan Reid, who joined both Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck from the Scouting Combine last week in Indianapolis. In addition to hearing from Miller and Reid in separate interviews, Craig and Dani shout-out Ron Wolfley. He announced on Friday that he's stepping down as the Cardinals radio analyst after 20 years in the booth. It's a loss, it's a big loss. But good for Wolf.

Ep. 854 - Twice last season Charles Davis watched the Cardinals play from the network TV booth at State Farm Stadium. He was on the CBS call for a win against the Chicago Bears in Week 9 and a loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14. What did he see, what did he like, what does he feel is needed for the Cardinals to take the next step in Year 3 of GM Monti Ossenfort and head coach Jonathan Gannon? Davis joined Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck from the 2025 Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, where he'll be part of the NFL Network's coverage. Davis also gave his thoughts on Kyler Murray, Marvin Harrison Jr., and a secondary that is no longer just all about Budda Baker.

Ep. 853 - More than 300 draft prospects are in Indianapolis this week for the 2025 Scouting Combine. So how does one separate themself within their position group? This week can help, but it always comes back to the film. And what do teams look at when watching the tape? For Dane Brugler of The Athletic, it's more about their traits than how productive they were; in other words, don't focus solely on a player's statistics. Brugler joined Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck from Indy to discuss the combine, the draft and what positions are the deepest, and where the Cardinals are positioned with their first-round pick; plus, a look back at last year's draft class of the Cardinals.

Ep. 852 - A year ago, the Cardinals picked fourth in the NFL Draft. This year, it's 16. The good news is that means the Cardinals had a better year than the season before. The bad news is they'll miss out on some of the top-tier college prospects. Fret not, though, Bird Gang. The Cardinals are still in a good spot to select a quality player, especially if the choice is a defensive player, according to NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah, who joined Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck from Indianapolis, site of the 2025 Scouting Combine. In addition to the draft, the conversation with Jeremiah included his thoughts on what he saw from the Cardinals in 2024. As the radio analyst for the Los Angeles Chargers, Jeremiah was on the call when the Chargers visited State Farm Stadium in Week 7.

Ep. 851 - Sounds familiar, right? Only one week on the job and the new Cardinals offensive line coach is already sounding like Jonathan Gannon. Why Justin Frye was hired became clear less than three minutes into his introductory press conference on Wednesday. Frye and Gannon share a common vision about the game of football. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss what they heard from Frye, his thoughts on the roster, his familiarity with a handful of players, and what it takes to block for a quarterback like Kyler Murray. Also, Daniel Jeremiah released his latest mock draft. Who does he have the Cardinals selecting with the 16th overall pick this time? And Zach has been busy with free-agent primers.

Ep. 850 - One month. We are one month away from the start of the free agency signing period. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman examine the names and look at the position groups that may see the most change. (Spoiler alert: The line of scrimmage and defensive front-seven feature the most players who potentially might hit the open market.) Also, the guys discuss some of the news and headlines that maybe got lost or overshadowed because of the Super Bowl; from what's going on within the NFC West to a couple of upcoming opponents in 2025 plus exactly what is the future of Aaron Rodgers and three of the biggest names who rush the quarterback: Myles Garrett, Maxx Crosby, and Micah Parsons.

Ep. 849 - It's the one big takeaway from Super Bowl 59: games are won or lost at the line of scrimmage. And, really, that's nothing new. All 32 teams - not just the Philadelphia Eagles - try to win the line of scrimmage. No, what the Eagles showed is why teams prioritize (or should) the offensive and defensive lines whether that's in free agency or the draft. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck look at what the Cardinals have at both spots and then discuss the decisions needed to be made by the front office this offseason. Also, they give their thoughts on the game, focusing on just how dominate the Eagles were against the Kansas City Chiefs, and might international travel be in the Cardinals' future?

Ep. 848 - What can the Cardinals learn when looking at the two Super Bowl participants? Specifically, in terms of the rosters of both the Chiefs and Eagles? Maybe the biggest lesson is this: The best path to success, and really sustained success, is through the draft. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi share the numbers to back up what fans have repeatedly heard from NFL GMs, including Monti Ossenfort, on just how important the NFL Draft is to building a team. Also, the guys discuss what they think will happen in Super Bowl 59, and they predict who will walk away winners during NFL Honors. FYI, Budda Baker and Trey McBride are finalists for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award and Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, respectively.

Ep. 847 - Without Budda and Trey who knows if the NFC would've been able to beat the AFC. Okay, maybe that's overstating things a bit. Still, Budda and Trey each had a hand in not only Sunday's game but also Thursday's competitions. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman look back at what was a successful week in Orlando for the two Cardinals teammates. Also, the guys discuss the loss of offensive line coach Klayton Adams to the Dallas Cowboys; that is now official. What is not yet official - and right now only mentioned - is Adams' replacement and a reported new defensive line coach. Plus, it is Super Bowl week, and the week began with some major news out of Cleveland, which potentially could affect the Cardinals. Hmm.

Ep. 846 - Everyone knows the big names. The stars. They are the ones who get all the attention. But to be a successful team, it takes more than a couple of all-pros or pro bowlers. So, with that in mind, Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss those Cardinals players, whether on offense or defense, who might've flown under the radar, but who certainly deserve to be praised based on their performance this season. Also, what's the latest on perhaps another change to the coaching staff; why fans should pay attention to the two college all-star games this week; and, oh yeah, don't forget about the Pro Bowl - it's another chance to see both Budda Baker and Trey McBride in action.

Ep. 845 - And with the 16th overall pick, the Arizona Cardinals select (fill in the blank). Well, we'll know soon enough. Officially, in three months. Unofficially, let the speculation begin. In other words, time to mock draft. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. and NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah, two of the prominent voices this time of year, released their first mock drafts. Craig Grialou and Darren Urban, who loves his mock drafts, breakdown who was mocked to the Cardinals. Also, the guys discuss the Dallas Cowboys' reported interest in offensive line coach Klayton Adams, the rise within the front office ranks of former Cardinals wide receiver (and Scottsdale Chaparral high alum) Darren Mougey, as well as their takeaways from Championship Sunday.

Ep. 844 - It's something Jonathan Gannon says all the time. And based on what we saw during the divisional round of the playoffs, the head coach is right. The ball matters. Specifically, taking the ball away and protecting the ball. Turnover margin is important, and it's a big reason for the success of the four teams - Commanders, Eagles, Bills, and Chiefs - remaining in the postseason. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss how the Cardinals fared in 2024 regarding takeaways and giveaways and how they might improve their numbers. Also, the guys give their thoughts on Championship Sunday, Drew Petzing not landing the Bears head coaching job and review the season's top plays; both offense, defense and special teams.

Ep. 843 - Let's start with the most important question: How is everyone's German? That's right. German. There is a chance, based on an announcement from the league earlier on Wednesday, that the Cardinals play a regular season game in Berlin. Again, a chance. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi are both big fans of a potential trip to Germany. They discuss why the Cardinals would be an attractive option. They then dive into the offseason, one that will be full of questions. They pick out some of the biggest questions they have that they hope GM Monti Ossenfort provides an answer; from the interior of the offensive line, the wide receiver room, and, of course, the pass rush. Also, they look ahead to this weekend's Divisional Round of the playoffs.

Ep. 842 - It's award season, and well, we didn't want to feel left out. It's time for the 2024 Cardinals Awards, as voted by our 13-person panel. Craig Grialou is joined by both Dani Sureck and Zach Gershman to break down the results. Some winners are more obvious than others; Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, while not unanimous, did produce the most clear-cut choices. Other winners faced tougher competition, most notably Newcomer of the Year, Beyond the Box Score Player of the Year and Player of the Year. And as far as Most Valuable Cardinal? Ep. 841 - It's been three days since the regular season ended. So, yeah, the offseason has arrived. And after a brief conversation about Dani Sureck's cryptic post on social media Wednesday afternoon (really, a tease to some exciting new content), she and Craig Grialou discuss, what else, their biggest takeaways from 2024. More specifically, however, what did they learn from 2024; be it about a player, a position group or maybe something completely different. Plus, even though the Cardinals aren't participating in postseason football, Craig and Dani look ahead to the six playoff games scheduled for Wild Card Weekend. Is it the best two days - two-plus days - on the NFL calendar?

Ep. 840 - Beat a division foe. Sweep the season series. Send the fans home happy. That's what the Cardinals accomplished in Week 18. And no, the goal of making the playoffs was not reached, but a 47-24 win over the San Francisco 49ers is a decent consolation prize. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss what happened on Sunday; from Kyler Murray's four touchdown passes, the improved play of Marvin Harrison Jr., the career-year by Trey McBride to a defense that fought - literally in fact - and forced three takeaways. They guys also begin to look ahead to the offseason, what potential moves might be made; Kelvin Beachum's future with the team; and react to Drew Petzing reportedly being a candidate for the head coaching job with the Chicago Bears.

Ep. 839 - It is the last Football Friday of the 2024 season. So, how do you want to go out? How do you want to be remembered? With a win, of course. The Cardinals will look to do just that on Sunday. They host the San Francisco 49ers in the regular-season finale. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss why a win in Week 18 matters to the coaches and to the players, and why it should matter to the fans. Plus, as the guys have done all season, they head into enemy territory. Lindsey Pallares, team reporter for 49ers.com, joins the show. The 49ers are coming off a short week; they're banged up; and they'll be quarterbacked by a familiar face, Joshua Dobbs, who was QB1 for eight games just last season as the Cardinals waited for the return of a healthy Kyler Murray.

Ep. 838 - On this first day of 2025, the focus remains on 2024, at least in terms of the football season. Yes, the calendar has flipped to the new year, but there remains one more game to be played before the new season can be discussed. With that said, however, Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck talk about what they'd like to see in the regular-season finale that may carryover to next season, i.e., the chemistry between Kyler Murray and his wide receivers (namely Marvin Harrison Jr.). Also, Craig and Dani react to the breaking news that James Conner will not play against the San Francisco 49ers, and what that may mean for Michael Carter and the rest of the running back room. Plus, will the Cardinals see a familiar face as QB1 for the Niners? Will it be Joshua Dobbs against his former team?

Ep. 837 - Heart-breaking. There's no other way to describe it. The win was there until it wasn't. And that's been the story of the Arizona Cardinals' season more times than not in 2024. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi, aka Paulie Play-By-Play, look back at the 13-9 loss on Saturday night in Los Angeles. For much of the game, the offense looked good; in fact, the numbers said as much. Defensively, the same thing. The Cardinals played well enough to win, but the only thing that matters in sports is did you score more points than your opponent. The Cardinals did not. The guys discuss everything. Plus, Paul hands out his weekly Angry Bird Award; and this week, it goes to a player who stepped up his game in the absence of his teammate.

Ep. 836 - So, the stakes are not as high as we all had hoped, but there is still plenty on the line coming up on Saturday night in Los Angeles. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman look ahead to the Week 17 matchup against the Rams, an opponent the Cardinals have not seen since early September. A lot has changed since then, which is discussed when Jourdan Rodrigue joins the show, as she did ahead of Week 2. Rodrigue covers the Rams for The Athletic. Before that conversation, though, Craig and Zach have a conversation about where the Cardinals are at, coming off the loss at Carolina that eliminated them from playoff contention; what can still be accomplished over the final two games; plus, who is and who isn't available to play this weekend.

Ep. 835 - And that's the sad reality, unfortunately. Losing at Carolina plus the Rams winning at the New York Jets equaled playoff elimination for the Cardinals. So, what happened? How did the Cardinals fall to a three-win team (at the time) in a got-to-have-it game? Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss the 36-30 defeat to the Panthers in overtime. Yes, injuries were a factor; too many penalties, especially at the start of the game; the run defense was not great. The Cardinals dug themselves a 17-point hole halfway through the second quarter before digging themselves out thanks to James Conner (before he got hurt; Conner, by the way, earned Paul's Angry Bird Award) and the right leg of Chad Ryland. And now, with two games left, the Cardinals are forced to play the role of spoiler.

Ep. 834 - The Cardinals took care of business last week, beating a three-win opponent. They face another three-win opponent this week. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman, before he heads to the airport to join the team on its flight to Carolina, discuss the game against the Panthers coming up on Sunday. What are the key matchups? What must the Cardinals do in order to win to help keep their playoff hopes alive? (Spoiler alert: run the football.) Also, they are joined by Darin Gantt, senior writer for panthers-dot-com, as they head into enemy territory ahead of Week 16. Before any of those conversations, however, Craig and Zach react to the injury report: two starters and two key backups will not play in the game.

Ep. 833 - One of the bigger questions this offseason has been answered in-season: Budda Baker isn't going anywhere. He and the Cardinals reached agreement on a three-year contract extension, keeping him in Arizona through the 2027 season. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck react to the news. They then discuss why the team rewarded the player, and maybe more importantly, the person; what the extension says about where the team is headed; and what GM Monti Ossenfort is building after extensions to Baker, James Conner, Hjalte Froholdt and Zaven Collins. Plus, Craig and Dani go over the roster moves made on Wednesday and wonder if it's too early in the week to worry about Paris Johnson Jr. missing Wednesday's practice because of a knee injury.

Ep. 832 - It was a much-needed win on Sunday. No, it wasn't perfect. But thanks to the play of James Conner and Trey McBride, the Cardinals "stayed relevant" in the playoff hunt, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon. And let's not forget the defense. In fact, that's where Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck begin their discussion when looking back at the 30-17 victory over the New England Patriots. The defense played well despite losing Mack Wilson Sr. and Jesse Luketa five plays into the first quarter; a number of players stepped up in their absence. And, yes, the Cardinals got lucky - and there's nothing wrong with that - from an interception that wasn't to a fumble that turned into a touchdown, for a second time this season. Playoff football remains a very real possibility.

Ep. 831 - No, a win doesn't clinch a spot in the playoffs. But if the Cardinals want to keep their postseason hopes alive, then they need to win on Sunday. They need to beat the New England Patriots at State Farm Stadium. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman look ahead to the matchup in Week 15; what it's going to take to get past the Patriots, get back in the win column and get those positive vibes back around the team. The guys also head into enemy territory and speak with ESPN's Mike Reiss; long-time Patriots beat writer. Before that conversation, though, a conversation on how the San Francisco 49ers did the Cardinals no favors on Thursday Night Football.

Ep. 830 - Hey, it's just a suggestion. But it is an aspect of the Cardinals offense that, in recent weeks, appears to be missing; at least to both Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck. That's the main topic of discussion on Wednesday's show; what if Kyler Murray were to have more rushing attempts, might that help spark the offense? The Cardinals are searching for answers in the midst of a season-long three-game losing streak. Also, Craig and Dani look ahead to this week's game against the New England Patriots, focusing on rookie quarterback Drake Maye; who's punting on Sunday, given the injury to Blake Gillikin; and rookie offensive lineman Isaiah Adams is the team's new starting right guard.

Ep. 829 - So much was on the line Sunday. And so much was lost. No, the season isn't over. The playoffs are still very much in the picture. It's just now the road to get there has become a lot more difficult to travel for the Arizona Cardinals. They no longer control their own destiny. So, what happened? Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi look back at the 30-18 home loss to the Seattle Seahawks; turnovers were an issue; couldn't stop the run; and it's never good when your kicker is needed to punt, shout-out Chad Ryland. Another player deserving of some praise, safety Budda Baker. He earned Paul's weekly Angry Bird Award after a career-high 18 tackles, including eight solo.

Ep. 828 - The stakes could not be any higher. Win, and the Cardinals are back in first place in the NFC West; more importantly, they control their own destiny the rest of the way. Lose, and the road to postseason football becomes a lot more difficult. Plus, it's the Seahawks, and who doesn't enjoy beating the Seahawks? Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss the matchup coming up on Sunday at State Farm Stadium; why the Cardinals need to win and what they need to do in order to win (hint: all the things they didn't do in the first meeting two weeks ago.) Plus, the guys head into enemy territory. For the second time this season, they speak with John Boyle, senior reporter for seahawks-dot-com, to get his thoughts on the rematch.

Ep. 827 - Two games. Two winnable games. Yet, the Cardinals were on the short end against both the Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings. So, what must change to change the outcome this week? Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi offer their thoughts, whether it's finishing in the red zone or the defense finishing by getting off the field. The one big difference this week: the Cardinals are home; it's the first time in nearly a full calendar month. Also, the guys spotlight the team's two first-round draft picks, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. - were the expectations too high coming into the season? - and defensive lineman Darius Robison, who may be in for a larger role this week after making his season debut in Minnesota.

Ep. 826 - Six times; more times than any other game this season. Six times the offense reached the red zone, yet only one time did the trip result in a touchdown. That's not good enough. And that's why, at least a big reason why, Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck are discussing a loss rather than a win. The two look back at Sunday's 23-22 loss; the offensive struggles near the goal line, the inability to throw the ball downfield with any consistency, all the penalties at what seemed like all the wrong times. There is also talk of a defense that played well until they didn't; how did Darius Robinson look in his debut; and what more can be said about the play of Mack Wilson Sr., this week's winner of the Angry Bird Award.

Ep. 825 - The number is seven. There are seven coaches, including the head coach and both the offensive and defensive coordinators, who have ties to the Minnesota Vikings organization. Will that mean anything on Sunday? Maybe. Maybe not. There's also a handful of Vikings personnel who have ties to the Cardinals as Craig Grialou and Darren Urban discuss on the show. Their conversation, though, begins with whether or not this is the week rookie defensive lineman Darius Robinson makes his debut. It certainly sounds like Week 13 is the week, finally. Ep. 824 - On this, the day before Thanksgiving, it makes sense for Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck to say what they're thankful for. Family. Close friends. Good health. How about a Cardinals team that's going to be playing meaningful football in December, and hopefully January. Yes, to all. But, what about Trey McBride? He leads the team in both receptions and receiving yards, but is he appreciated enough? And that leads into a discussion about Pro Bowl voting and which Cardinals players are worthy of your vote because there are several to consider. Also, the latest from Wednesday's practice; it's not too early to talk playoffs; and Dani is always ready to talk green bean casserole because it is - she believes - the best side dish of Thanksgiving dinner.

Ep. 823 - Blame the noise. Blame the weather. Credit the defense. Whatever the reason, the Cardinals offense did not show up in Seattle on Sunday. From Kyler Murray on down, it was a struggle. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi look back at what went wrong - the inability to get the run game going, the inability to stop defensive lineman Leonard Williams from getting into the backfield - in a 16-6 loss against the Seahawks, who now lead the NFC West. The guys also praise the play of Trey McBride, who had a career day in defeat, and the work of the defense which held Geno Smith and company to 10 points; that should be good enough to win any game. Speaking of the defense, props to former Seahawk L.J. Collier, he earned Paul's weekly Angry Bird Award.

Ep. 822 - So, how do the Cardinals play coming out of the bye week? That's been the question all week considering how well the team was playing going into the bye week. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman explain why they believe there will be no drop-off on Sunday in Seattle. It helps, the guys think, that it's a division game and a game with major implications in the standings. With weather potentially being a factor – rain is in the forecast, though even if it wasn't – running back James Conner is expected to play a key role in the matchup. He's got good numbers against the Seahawks, and the Seahawks have struggled against the run; that other topics are brought up when Craig and Zach speak with John Boyle, senior reporter for Seahawks.com. He joins the show to help preview the Week 12 matchup.

Ep. 821 - It is a day of returns. Right tackle Jonah Williams is back on the 53-man roster, rookie defensive lineman Darius Robinson is back practicing, and more importantly, Dani Sureck is back on the show. She and Craig Grialou discuss whether the team should reinsert Williams into the starting lineup given how well Kelvin Beachum has played in Williams' absence; how excited Robinson is to be on the field after so much time rehabbing a calf injury; and playing in Seattle, always a tough visit for opponents, though the Cardinals have had their success. Speaking of Seattle, the game marks another homecoming for Budda Baker. He and the entire secondary have held their own against many of the league's top wide receivers in recent weeks. Ep. 820 - The bye week is over. Time to get back to work. And that's exactly what the Cardinals did on Monday with what head coach Jonathan Gannon called a "bonus" practice. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss what they saw and, more importantly, who they saw. (Spoiler alert: rookie defensive lineman Darius Robinson was on the field.) Also, the guys look back at what was a very successful Week 11 for the Cardinals. Despite the team not playing, they won on Sunday. The Cardinals remain in sole possession of first place in the NFC West, and they leapfrogged the Atlanta Falcons to become the No. 3 seed in the NFC.

Ep. 819 - Six wins. A four-game winning streak. Sole possession of first place in the NFC West. Things are going well for the Arizona Cardinals thus far in 2024. Surprised? Some people may be. The coaches and the players in the building are not. As the Cardinals head into their bye week, Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman look back at the season's first 10 games, look ahead to the season's final seven games; they also discuss who and what position groups have stood out; the impact this year's rookie class has made, and hopefully will continue to make; when to expect a handful of injured players to return; but they begin with Kyler Murray, NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Ep. 818 - It is yet another Victory Monday. And that means, hot dogs. Yes, hot dogs. Paul Calvisi explains before he and Craig Grialou discuss the Cardinals' 31-6 win over the New York Jets on Sunday. That's four straight wins, and each win has been a little bit different. This week it was Kyler Murray, or as Jonathan Gannon described, "the best player on the planet;" Trey Benson who had his best game of his young career and earned the coveted Angry Bird Award for Week 10; Trey McBride continued his ascension as - arguably - the top tight end in the game; plus the defense, led by Budda Baker, held Aaron Rodgers and the Jets out of the end zone, the third straight home game not allowing a touchdown.

Ep. 817 - You know what's better than five wins? Six wins. And six wins going into the bye week would be impressive for a Cardinals team many didn't see competing let along leading the NFC West at the midway point of the season. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss what it's going to take to reach six wins given what's standing in the Cardinals' way, a New York Jets team that is much more talented than its 3-6 record would indicate. Ep. 816 - The first-place Arizona Cardinals practiced on Wednesday, and just like previous Wednesdays the players were "all business" according to head coach Jonathan Gannon. In other words, a team that's won three straight and four of five remains focused on the day-to-day. No one is looking ahead, more importantly, no one is looking ahead to the bye week. The focus is on the New York Jets, a team that's much better than their 3-6 record. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck explain why the Jets have the Cardinals' attention; Aaron Rodgers is a big reason. Ep. 815 - Six sacks, two by Zaven Collins (Angry Bird Award winner). More than 200 rushing yards and three touchdowns. The Cardinals controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball in what was an impressive 29-9 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. And, yeah, it rained. Briefly, but it rained inside State Farm Stadium. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi look back at the Cardinals' Week 9 performance. Ep. 810 - Seven games into the season, the Cardinals have shown they can run the ball, and run the ball quite well. They have not shown, however, that they can throw the ball with any consistency. The passing game has yet to meet expectations; that fans have and, more importantly, that Kyler Murray has given his playmakers. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss what Kyler had to say Wednesday. Plus, they talk about how to get Marvin Harrison Jr. more involved, the challenge that is the Dolphins defense, the rotation at right guard, who steps up now that Dennis Gardeck is done for the season, and a quick check of the NFC West standings shows the Cardinals are in good position. Ep. 809 - Monday Night Football. It's a big deal. It's been a big deal for more than five decades. The Cardinals, though, have not played on Monday night since 2022. The good news is that it looks like Kyler Murray will have his full complement of wide receivers for the first time; Marvin Harrison Jr. (concussion) has practiced each of the past two days and Zay Jones (suspension) is expected to make his season debut. Ep. 808 - No, the Cardinals have not gotten off to the start that they had hoped. Yet, a third of the way through the season, they remain "a player" within the NFC, and more importantly, the NFC West. The NFL is "setup for parity," according to ESPN Analyst Louis Riddick, who joined both Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck on Wednesday. Riddick, who will be on the call for Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Chargers, praised Kyler Murray, James Conner, and Trey McBride among others, while questioning - as many have - how many more injuries the defense can endure. Before that conversation, Craig and Dani discuss who was and who wasn't at the week's first practice.

Ep. 807 - Winning in the NFL is already hard enough. The Cardinals made it a heck of a lot more difficult on themselves in Green Bay. Too many penalties. Too many turnovers. Too many negative plays. "If you beat yourself, you're not going to beat anybody; we played versus two opponents today," head coach Jonathan Gannon said following the 34-13 loss to the Packers. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi, who has dried off after a rainy Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field, discuss what happened. Ep. 803 - It's been a long week. Losing happens, yes. But losing like that, by 28 points despite a relatively healthy roster, is not something the Cardinals had ever experienced under head coach Jonathan Gannon. So, here's the question: what is the team's response on Sunday in San Francisco? We'll find out soon enough. In the meantime, Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck look ahead to the matchup against the 49ers, the first of two meetings this season. Sure, there are a handful of others, be it coaches and players with connections to the Cardinals who will be back at State Farm Stadium on Sunday, but it's Kliff Kingsbury's return that is grabbing most, if not all, of the headlines. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss what it's going to be like with Kliff in the building and Kyler Murray on the opposite sideline. Big deal or not a big deal? Also, the latest on Justin Jones, Kelvin Beachum and Jackson Barton; and is that Marvin Harrison Jr. and Budda Baker on the injury report? Good thing it's early in the week. Plus, everything in the run game and the pass game is correctable.

Ep. 798 - Not sure you could've asked for much more out of the defense. They pitched a shutout in the second half. The offense, however, couldn't take advantage. No run game. No downfield passing game. No sustained drives. It's left everyone with the opposite feeling compared to this time a week ago. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss all that happened - and what didn't happen - in Sunday's 20-13 loss to the Detroit Lions. And though there is no Paul Calvisi - as we like to say, he's on assignment the day after the game - the Angry Bird Award is still handed out. Both Craig and Dani agree Mack Wilson Sr. is worthy of the recognition for the plays he made and that one play he did but it didn't count.

Ep. 797 - Despite the loss last week, the Detroit Lions are a good football team. Very good in the eyes of head coach Jonathan Gannon, who several times mentioned the test his team faces in Week 3. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman give their thoughts on Sunday's matchup, which is the second of three straight games at State Farm Stadium for the Cardinals. The guys discuss the availability of right tackle Kelvin Beachum and how the offensive line needs to slow down the league's top sack artist in Aidan Hutchinson. They then get the thoughts of Matt Dery as the show heads into enemy territory. Dery is the host of the Locked On Lions podcast. Finally, stay listening for Zach's predictions. He gives three.

Ep. 796 - A 41-point performance that sees the quarterback record a perfect passer rating, the running back top 100 rushing yards and the wide receiver score his first two career touchdowns, yeah, that is going to overshadow pretty much anything else that happened. That said, Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck give the defense its flowers. Specifically, they highlight Budda Baker and Dennis Gardeck, two of the longest-tenured Cardinals on that side of the ball. Baker led the team in tackles, flying all over the field. Gardeck set career highs in both sacks and tackles for loss. Also, there are conversations about the tight end position, offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum, defensive lineman L.J. Collier and girls flag football.

Ep. 795 - What's not to like about a 41-10 win at home against the Los Angeles Rams? That's right, nothing. In fact, there was almost too much to like - ok, that's a lie. It is always good to beat the Rams and to beat Sean McVay, something the Cardinals had never done at State Farm Stadium. So, where to begin? Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss Kyler Murray's near perfect afternoon; the spectacular performance of Marvin Harrison Jr.; James Conner and a solid rushing attack. Plus, the guys agree. They may be most pleased with the defense, shutting down Matthew Stafford and company. That was big. Dennis Gardeck was big, and his efforts earned him Paul's weekly Angry Bird Award.

Ep. 794 - Run the ball. Stop the run. Each week that seems to be the goal of offenses and defenses, respectively. And the same holds true this week when the Cardinals host the Los Angeles Rams in the home opener at State Farm Stadium. Will the Cardinals be able to run the ball as effectively as the Detroit Lions did the week before against the Rams, and especially as well as the Lions did in overtime? Will the Cardinals be able to stop the run and more specifically, stop Kyren Williams, who had so much success against the Cardinals last season? Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman do their best to predict what will happen on Sunday. Plus, they talk with Jourdan Rodrigue. She covers the Rams for The Athletic.

Ep. 793 - The head coach. The offensive coordinator. The quarterback. Yep, that's everyone. Three targets are just not enough for your No. 1 wide receiver. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss what a lot of people have been discussing since Sunday, Marvin Harrison Jr.'s involvement in the offense, and specifically the passing offense. Now, to be fair, passing yards were down league wide in Week 1. But that's not expected to be a season-long trend. Also, Craig and Dani have the latest on Jonah Williams and how the Cardinals go about replacing their starting right tackle for the foreseeable future plus Mack Wilson Sr. had a solid debut in a Cardinals uniform. He and Kyzir White played well together against the Buffalo Bills.

Ep. 792 - On the road with a chance to win. That's where the Cardinals found themselves, twice, in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, both times ended without the touchdown that was needed to pull off the upset. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss the 34-28 loss at the Buffalo Bills. They go over the fast start by the offense - scores on each of the first three possessions - to why the offense may have cooled in the second half. Plus, despite the defense's best efforts, Josh Allen was just too good, both with his arm and his legs. Speaking of legs, how about the legs on DeeJay Dallas on the 96-yard kickoff return. For his efforts, and the historical significance, he's Paul's Angry Bird award winner for Week 1.

Ep. 791 - The wait is just about over, Bird Gang. What everyone has been waiting to see becomes reality in two days. Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison Jr. take the field for the first time in a regular season game on Sunday in Buffalo. Everyone excited? Absolutely. And it's not just the quarterback and wide receiver that are the reasons many people are excited for Week 1. Sure, there's some unknown - maybe even a lot unknown - but that's nearly every team in September. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman look ahead to the matchup; what they're paying attention to; go over the injury report; and head into enemy territory. Katherine Fitzgerald, who covers the Bills for The Buffalo News, joins the show.

Ep. 790 - His coaches and teammates agree. Kyler Murray is more locked in than he's ever been. And Murray has said it himself. But what does that mean? What does that look like on Sundays? Well, we will now soon enough, when the Cardinals visit the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Also, the guys go over what head coach Jonathan Gannon had to say about QB2, undrafted rookie wide receiver Xavier Weaver, and the pass rush. Ep. 788 - And that's it. The preseason is over. So, who is making the team? What players did enough over three games, including Sunday's 38-12 loss at the Denver Broncos, to make the initial 53-man roster? Undrafted wide receiver Xavier Weaver, third-year outside linebacker Cameron Thomas, and veteran defensive back Darren Hall are among those who have impressed. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss those who have strong cases to be on the team. First though, what is the latest with rookie defensive lineman Darius Robinson; how will the offense handle the suspension of wide receiver Zay Jones; and updates on a handful of players who got hurt in the preseason finale.

Ep. 787 - Come Tuesday afternoon, the Arizona Cardinals - as well as the 31 other NFL teams - must reduce their roster to no more than 53 players. That means Sunday's game at the Denver Broncos is the last opportunity for players to make an impression, flash on tape to prove they deserve a spot on the roster. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman look ahead to the preseason finale. Clayton Tune reportedly will get the start at quarterback, with Desmond Ridder to follow which was the same plan last week in Indianapolis. Ep. 786 – Forget cake and ice cream. Hjalte Froholdt prefers steak on his birthday. The Cardinals starting center celebrated his birthday on Tuesday, and then he signed a two-year contract extension on Wednesday. Froholdt was due to become a free agent at season's end, so getting a deal done now is most beneficial for both the player and the team. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss Froholdt's extension and why having a franchise center is so important. Also, the guys check in on this year's draft class; all 12 players. How many are ready to make an immediate impact in Week 1? How many may need more time? It's clear first-round draft picks Marvin Harrison Jr. and Darius Robinson will be major contributors right away. Who else may join them?

Ep. 785 - In the preseason, the outcome takes a backseat to individual performance. So, while the Cardinals did not win on Saturday, there were quite a few players who flashed in the 21-13 loss at the Indianapolis Colts. Quarterback Clayton Tune, who got the start, turned in another solid effort. Rookie Trey Benson showed why he was the second running back drafted. The pass rush came alive, whether it was Cameron Thomas, Xavier Thomas, Victor Dimukeje or L.J. Collier, who appeared to be a part of every play that first defensive series. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss it all; and yes, the penalties, too. Regardless of who is on the field, the Cardinals cannot expect to win a lot of games if they are flagged 11 times, including seven by halftime. They must be better.

Ep. 784 - The Cardinals and Colts kicked off joint practice work on Wednesday at the Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana. Ep. 783 - For the second straight year under head coach Jonathan Gannon, the Cardinals will practice against another team in the preseason. Joint practices with the Colts will be held on both Wednesday and Thursday ahead of the teams playing a preseason game on Saturday in Indianapolis. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss the value of joint practices, which - at least in the preseason - have become far more important than games when it comes to the evaluation process. One of the players most excited about the joint practices is rookie defensive lineman Darius Robinson. He has been fun to watch on the field and listen to off the field. Also, keep an eye out for another defensive lineman, Roy Lopez, who earned high praise from Gannon earlier in the week.

Ep. 782 - For a first game, there was a lot to like in Saturday's game against the New Orleans Saints. No, the Cardinals didn't win - they lost 16-14 on a last-second field goal - but they competed; and more importantly, several players flashed. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss their biggest takeaways. Clayton Tune commanded the offense; Michael Carter looked fast; Darius Robinson and Xavier Thomas, a couple of rookies, were disruptive; and Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, aka Rabbit, lived up to his nickname. All was good to see in a game in which many of the starters didn't play and may not play at all here in the preseason. The best news, though, is that the team came out "pretty clean" in terms of injuries, according to Jonathan Gannon.

Ep. 781 - Sure, it's the preseason. But it's football. And it's been missing from our lives for more than half the year. On Saturday, the Cardinals return to the field for their one and only preseason game at State Farm Stadium. So, with that in mind, Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck are joined by Mark McClune of Arizona's Family, the new television home of the Arizona Cardinals. The three discuss their biggest takeaways from #CardsCamp; seeing Marvin Harrison Jr. and Darius Robinson in action, neither of whom have looked like a rookie; the competition to be Kyler Murray's backup; and, of course, the new multi-year partnership with Arizona's Family's that includes preseason games and weekly Cardinals shows year-round.

Ep. 780 - It's what Jonathan Gannon asks of his defense. Play with motor and violence. And on Wednesday, there may have been a little bit too much of the latter; at least there was between two players who were asked to leave the field mid-practice by the head coach. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss what happened and what stood out to them in the final open practice, which also was the final padded practice of #CardsCamp. The discussion began with the defensive line - Roy Lopez, L.J. Collier, and Darius Robinson among others - and then turned to the pass rush with the guys wondering if Mack Wilson Sr. might be an option. Plus, the competition to be QB2; Clayton Tune and Desmond Ridder will see plenty of reps in the preseason.

Ep. 779 - It's often said that the most important relationship on a football team is the relationship between the head coach and the starting quarterback. From all accounts, the relationship between Jonathan Gannon and Kyler Murray is a good one. And perhaps better than good, according to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, who stopped by #CardsCamp recently for the network's "Inside Training Camp" show. He then joined Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman for a candid conversation about the Cardinals, where they're headed as well as Gannon, his coaching staff, what to expect from Murray and the offense plus talk about the rest of the NFC West and many of the bigger topics around the league.

Ep. 778 - It's not the news anyone wanted to hear. Second-year outside linebacker BJ Ojulari did indeed suffer a season-ending injury to his left knee at Friday's practice. You hate it for the player, especially given how hard Ojulari worked during the offseason. You hate it for the team, which was relying on a big Year 1 to Year 2 jump from Ojulari, especially in terms of rushing the passer. So, now what? Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss the options before GM Monti Ossenfort. Do the Cardinals look internally? Do the Cardinals look outside the organization? And would that be a free agent, or a player acquired via a trade? Plus, there are no more questions about Zaven Collins' future with the team and what or who stood out in the Red & White Practice.

Ep. 777 - Kyler Murray throwing deep to Michael Wilson. James Conner running over a defender. Darius Robinson blowing up a run play. Mack Wilson Sr. picking off a pass at the line of scrimmage. There were plenty of highlights in Friday's padded practice, the second time the Cardinals were in pads. Coaches were on headsets. The music was loud. It was, as Jonathan Gannon likes to say, a high tempo day. Unfortunately, it was also a day that saw BJ Ojulari go down; only hours after he was praised by the defensive coordinator. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss the good and the bad. Plus, they have a conversation about Garrett Williams' role and what to expect with the new – dynamic – kickoff rule.

Ep. 776 - Yes, it helps to have a franchise quarterback. And now a true No. 1 wide receiver. But the Cardinals offense in 2024 isn't only Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison Jr. There is so much more. And for Charles Robinson, Senior NFL Reporter for Yahoo Sports, the most important piece of the puzzle just may be offensive coordinator Drew Petzing; the person pulling the strings, so to speak. Robinson joined Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman during his recent visit to Cards Camp. Robinson visited last year and compares where the Cardinals were then compared to where they are now and where he believes the team is headed under the direction of both GM Monti Ossenfort and head coach Jonathan Gannon.

Ep. 775 - Not until the pads are put on can a player truly be evaluated, according to the head coach. Well, let the evaluation begin. For the first time in training camp, players practiced in pads on Monday. Who stood out? Did anyone impress? Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss what they saw during o-line/d-line work as well as who was rushing the passer. Also, both Kyler Murray and offensive coordinator Drew Petzing addressed reporters. Murray is very confident in, not only himself, but how well the offense can perform this season, especially with the addition of a true No. 1 wide receiver in Marvin Harrison Jr. Meanwhile, Petzing appears eager to get all the offensive pieces on the field to see how they fit.

Ep. 774 - Kyler Murray. The addition of Marvin Harrison Jr. Upgrades along the front seven of the defense. Yes, there is a lot to be excited about the Arizona Cardinals in 2024. And that's not just the fans and local media talking. The national media is talking as well. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman are joined by NFL Network reporter Omar Ruiz. They get his perspective on the Cardinals; what he has seen and heard from coaches and players; plus, his thoughts on what is expected to be a very competitive NFC West, and he details what's ahead for Back Together Weekend, the league's unofficial kickoff to the season on the NFL Network, ABC, ESPN, and their streaming platforms.

Ep. 773 - Fans ran to their seats at State Farm Stadium to get their first glimpse of the 2024 Arizona Cardinals on Thursday. And those in attendance did not leave disappointed. Kyler Murray throwing to Marvin Harrison Jr. was the highlight of the first open practice of training camp. Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch each made nice grabs; rookie tight end Tip Reiman stood out; and things did get a little heated, albeit briefly, between the offense and defense during 11-on-11. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman have all the details, including a review of the first-team offense and defense. They also discuss the importance of the quarterback-center communication and the competition to be QB2.

Ep. 772 - Day 1 is in the books. After reporting on Tuesday, coaches and players hit the field at State Farm Stadium on Wednesday for just over an hour to kickoff training camp. First impressions? Glad you asked. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss what they saw; Kyler Murray being a participant is a nice change of pace from a year ago at this time. Also, they discuss what they heard; Budda Baker addressed the team the night before practice, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon. Baker set the tone as James Conner put it. In addition, the competition fans should expect to see - at running back, wide receiver, and cornerback to name a handful of positions - when they head out to the stadium. The first open practice is Thursday.

Ep. 771 - A healthy Kyler Murray. Adding a true No. 1 wide receiver in Marvin Harrison Jr. Which one -- or is it both of them -- is the biggest storyline on offense? Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi debate on the day before coaches and players report to State Farm Stadium for the start of training camp. That's right, the offseason is over. Regardless of which side of the debate you fall on, this much is certain: there is a lot to be excited about concerning the offensive side of the ball, especially considering how that unit finished last season. By the way, in addition to the top storyline, the guys discuss the No. 1 position battle, player most excited to see: newcomer, and player most excited to see: returner.

Ep. 770 - New faces. Familiar faces. How are they all going to fit together? And more importantly, how are they all going to improve a unit that struggled for much of last season? Second-year defensive coordinator Nick Rallis saw additions, whether in free agency or the draft, made at all three levels in the offseason. Also, there should be a natural jump from Year 1 to Year 2 with the players who are returning. So, with one week to go before the start of training camp, Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck spotlight the defense; the top storyline, No. 1 position battle, position group with the most intrigue, player most excited to see: newcomer, and player most excited to see: returner. Feel free to agree, or disagree, with their takes.

Ep. 769 - It is a much, much different looking team in the Pacific Northwest. For the first time in 14 years someone other than Pete Carroll will be the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. The Mike Macdonald era is underway. On Monday's show, Craig Grialou is joined by John Boyle, senior reporter for seahawks.com, to discuss all things Seahawks. Topics included his first impressions of Macdonald; how the defense may look a little (or a lot) different, especially without long-time linebacker Bobby Wagner in the middle of the field; offensively, is Geno Smith still QB1; how much longer will wide receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett share the same field; and the offensive line underwent a major overhaul in the offseason, highlighted by the loss of center Evan Brown, who is now playing for the Cardinals.

Ep. 768 - No Aaron Donald, no problem. Or is it a big problem? It was a big deal when long-time Rams defensive lineman - and long-time thorn in the Cardinals' side - Aaron Donald announced his retirement. So how do the Los Angeles Rams and the Rams defense adjust? Who is going to be asked to step up their game(s)? All questions Craig Grialou posed to Stu Jackson on Monday's show. Jackson is the senior staff writer for therams.com. Besides the Donald conversation, other topics discussed included new defensive coordinator Chris Shula; quarterback Matthew Stafford not being happy with his contract; the running game with Kyren Williams and third-round pick Blake Corum; plus what does wide receiver Puka Nacua do for an encore after a record-setting rookie season?

Ep. 767 - According to many, they are the team to beat in the NFC West. They've won the division in each of the past two seasons, and the roster – at least on paper – looks every bit as good once again. Of course, we're talking about the San Francisco 49ers. Craig Grialou is joined by Lindsey Pallares, team reporter for 49ers.com, to discuss all things 49ers. Topics included quarterback Brock Purdy enjoying a healthy offseason (very similar to Kyler Murray); running back Christian McCaffrey showing no signs of slowing down (not good news for Cardinals fans); and for the third time in as many seasons the defense will be under the direction of a new coordinator, though defensive end Nick Bosa remains and the team signed Leonard Floyd (10.5 sacks last season with the Bills).

Ep. 766 - On this, National Mascot Day (yes, it's a thing; shout-out to Big Red), Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss where they think the roster has most improved since the end of last season. They take into account free agency and the draft as well as other roster additions. On offense, the guys singled out wide receiver; the selection of Marvin Harrison Jr. with the fourth overall pick, the free-agent signings of Zay Jones and Chris Moore, plus Year 2 of Michael Wilson. Might Greg Dortch be a candidate for breakout player of the year? On defense, no position room underwent a bigger makeover than d-line with five new names while cornerback added four new faces. Both positions are expected to see significant improvement this season.

Ep. 765 - Yes, Marvin Harrison Jr. is talented. Very talented. And as we found out this week, he's also perspicacious. (Show of hands who knew what that word meant - or even knew it existed - before Michael Wilson used it to describe his new teammate?) Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss their lack of vocabulary, at least compared to Wilson's; plus, they give their thoughts on what they heard from MHJ when he met the media this week; how he's fitting in; the relationship between him and his fellow rookies; what his presence means for the offense as well as what his teammates have had to say about him. Also, the guys review Flight Plan: Stick & Pick and promote Zach's story on the new kickoff rule, from the players' perspective.

Ep. 764 - The season doesn't kickoff for another three months, but if Kyler Murray had his way, then the Cardinals would be playing a game tomorrow. At least that was the vibe K1 gave on Wednesday when he met with the media for the first time since the season finale against the Seahawks. First and foremost, Murray is healthy. Also, he's excited about the changes the team made in the offseason, none bigger than the drafting of Marvin Harrison Jr. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss what they saw and heard from Murray, who acknowledged he's in a much better place than a year ago at this time. Murray also had nothing but good things to say about both Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch; the latter of whom was brought up - unprompted - by the head coach earlier in the day.

Ep. 763 - It didn't happen a year ago. And before 2023, it was all the way back in 2015 - eight years earlier - in which a Cardinals team did not have a player record at least 10 sacks in a single season. BJ Ojulari, and the rest of the Cardinals outside linebackers, want to make double-digit sack-seasons a yearly occurrence. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss the expectations for Ojulari, who on Monday explained why he's wearing No. 9 rather than 18. Plus, Budda Baker wants to be a Cardinal beyond this season; long-time special teams coordinator Jeff Rodgers predicts a big increase in kickoff returns; the joint practices against the Colts in Indianapolis will be at night; and the final week of OTAs brought the heat, quite literally the heat.

Ep. 762 - A top-5 run game a year ago, yet listening to several players talk this offseason, the Cardinals expect to be much better in 2024. Collectively and individually, especially when it comes to James Conner. The offensive linemen have a goal, a goal Paris Johnson Jr. shared with reporters this week. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman reveal the goal as well as discuss the goal Paris has for himself plus the type of leadership Paris hopes to bring to the team. Also, it's Week 2 of OTAs which brought some clarity when it comes to the role(s) both Cameron Thomas and Evan Brown are expected to have this season. And speaking of this season, the new kickoff rule - what will it look like? Zach got a glimpse of it during the open portion of practice on Tuesday.

Ep. 761 - Size. Speed. Trey Benson has both. The Cardinals rookie running back recently stopped by to talk with Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck. The three discuss Benson's draft-day phone call(s); how fast he really is; meeting now teammate Michael Carter ahead of the draft; learning special teams; and why he's wearing No. 33. Benson is expected to have a big role this season. The same can be said for several of the team's draft picks. Craig and Dani look at one projection; from how many rushing and receiving yards for Benson and Marvin Harrison Jr., respectively, to how well Max Melton and Darius Robinson will do defensively. Plus, some more observations - and that's all they are - from the first week of organized team activities, or OTAs for short.

Ep. 760 - What had been speculated became official on Monday: Paris Johnson Jr. is moving to left tackle. And really, it makes sense. For starters, it's the position Johnson Jr. played in college. Also, Jonah Williams, who the Cardinals signed to a big-money free-agent contract this offseason, played a solid right tackle a year ago for the Cincinnati Bengals. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss the news on what was the first day of Phase 3 of the offseason strength and condition program. Other topics the guys dove into included the addition of Zay Jones to the wide receiver room; how Kyler Murray is spending time with his teammates away from the facility; joint practices will be held against the Indianapolis Colts ahead of the second preseason game; and the weekend-retirement announcement by former Cardinals running back David Johnson.

Ep. 759 - It's out. The Arizona Cardinals schedule has been released. The who and the where have been known for months, but now we know the order in which the Cardinals will play their 17 regular-season games. Craig Grialou, Dani Sureck and Paul Calvisi have their thoughts, i.e., the tough stretch to begin the season, three straight weeks with a home game, no back-to-back east coast trips, and division matchups in four of the final seven games. Plus, the Cardinals received one primetime game; their bye week is Week 11 – a little earlier than the previous two seasons; and they have five early kickoffs, including three at 10 a.m. There is no international game as well as no game on Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas. So, who's ready for the season?

Ep. 758 - People call him Rabbit, so Rabbit it is. A nickname he earned as a kid, Rabbit – given name Dadrion Taylor-Demerson – was the Cardinals' fourth-round draft pick. He's got a lot of personality which was on full display when he joined Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck following rookie minicamp. Rabbit talked about his name, his position versatility, being teammates with Budda Baker, what he hopes to accomplish in his first season and so much more. It is easy to see why the Cardinals selected the former Texas Tech safety early in Day 3 of the NFL Draft. But before that conversation, Craig and Dani discussed the newest addition to the team, wide receiver Zay Jones. He signed a one-year contract, providing another veteran presence in what is now a very crowded position room.

Ep. 757 - And now the work begins. Rookies arrived on Thursday. They practiced on Friday. Minicamp is underway for the 12-member draft class, three undrafted free agents and one tryout player – welcome former Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa. So, how did everyone look in their first on-field work in the NFL? Good question. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss what they saw; and to be honest, it wasn't much; practice – the portion that was opened to the media – was more of a walk-through. Still, Marvin Harrison Jr. looked good, rocking his No. 18 uniform, and Darius Robinson looked every bit of 6-5, 285. Plus, Kyler Murray and several of his teammates are in Oklahoma, bonding over playoff basketball, Sooners baseball and Murray's on-campus statue.

Reading about and listening to Darius Robinson, it's very clear the man loves the game of football. The second of the Cardinals' two first-round draft picks, Robinson and the rest of the 2024 draft class arrive this week and they will be on the field on Friday for the start of rookie minicamp. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss where Robinson will play, or at least where he will initially line up along the defensive line. They then hear from Robinson, who joined Grialou and Paul Calvisi following his introductory press conference. Plus, news on what numbers some of these rookies like Robinson and Marvin Harrison Jr., will be wearing and the first roster addition post-draft is a special teams standout who adds depth at linebacker.

Ep. 755 - Expectations are high for Marvin Harrison Jr., but not any higher than the expectations he has for himself. As he told Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi, when you have the name 'Harrison Jr.' on the back of your uniform, expectations will always be high. Hear the full interview with the Cardinals' first-round draft pick as he joined the guys following his introductory press conference. Harrison Jr. and the rest of the 12-player draft class will be on the field later this week for rookie minicamp. And Harrison Jr. won't be the only new wide receiver in action for the first time. The Cardinals selected Tejhaun Palmer out of Alabama-Birmingham in the sixth round and added Colorado's Xavier Weaver as an undrafted free agent; a pair of intriguing prospects who will be given every opportunity to earn a spot in what is a crowded wide receiver room.

Ep. 754 - After hearing from both the GM and the head coach, it's now time to hear from the coordinators. Drew Petzing and Nick Rallis, the offensive and defensive coordinators, respectively, addressed the media over the past two days. Their thoughts on not only the 12 draft picks but also the players added in free agency. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss what stood out; from Rallis' excitement about cornerback Elijah Jones, linebacker Mack Wilson and the veteran leadership in defensive linemen Justin Jones and Bilal Nichols to Petzing looking forward to seeing wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., running back Trey Benson and tight end Tip Reiman on the field to really get a sense of what they can do. Also, some Zaven Collins talk; his fifth-year option was not exercised.

Ep. 753 - With apologies to the Masters, post-draft grades are "a tradition unlike any other." Which team did well? Which team didn't? Who might be a sleeper pick? Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman react to what the experts are saying about GM Monti Ossenfort's second draft class. Spoiler alert: Monti did very well. The 12 new players won't be on the field for another week - rookie minicamp begins May 10 - so right now everything is a projection. In fact, Zach projects Darius Robinson to begin his pro career as an edge rusher out of the outside linebacker room not the defensive line room. Interesting. Other draft prospects highlighted on the show included offensive lineman Christian Jones (Can he be the team's swing tackle?) and tight end Tip Reiman (Zach shared a funny moment from Reiman's conference call with reporters).

Ep. 752 - Five picks on Saturday. An NFL-high 12 picks over the three days of the 2024 NFL Draft. GM Monti Ossenfort did not mess around. The 12 picks, by the way, were split evenly between offense and defense. So, what do we think? Craig Grialou is joined once again by both Dani Sureck and Paul Calvisi to discuss Day 3 as well as the draft in general. This much is clear, cornerback was prioritized; or so it seemed. One was selected on each day, with Jaden Davis out of Miami hearing his name called with the Cardinals' final pick, 226th overall in the seventh round. Other positions of note addressed on Saturday were safety (Texas Tech's Dadrion Taylor-Emerson), edge rusher (Clemson' Xavier Thomas), offensive tackle (Texas' Christian Jones) and wide receiver (UAB's Tejhaun Palmer).

Ep. 751 - Five picks including four in the third round. GM Monti Ossenfort was a busy man on Friday. Oh, and he made a pair of trades as well. Craig Grialou is joined by both Dani Sureck and Paul Calvisi – that's right they go Cover 3 to discuss Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Round two got started with a trade down before the selection of Rutgers cornerback Max Melton, a player who does not lack in the confidence department. Then round three saw four selections: Florida State running back Trey Benson, Illinois offensive lineman Isaiah Adams, Adams' teammate at Illinois in tight end Tip Reiman, and finally Boston College cornerback Elijah Jones. So, all total, the Cardinals double up at defensive back plus add three to the offensive side of the ball. Well done, Monti.

Ep. 750 - Two draft picks in the first round netted the Cardinals two players who fill positions of need: wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and defensive lineman Darius Robinson. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck are back to discuss day one of the 2024 NFL Draft. They begin with the selection of Robinson – and yes, he hails from Dani's alma mater, the University of Missouri – who can play both inside and outside along the d-line. His 8.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss were both team highs last season. Also on the show, comments from both GM Monti Ossenfort and head coach Jonathan Gannon about MHJ as told to Dani right outside the draft room mere minutes after the pick; plus some thoughts on the first round as a whole.

Ep. 749 - After much discussion and speculation, the Cardinals stayed put and selected Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. with the fourth overall pick. And in the end, it's not that big of a surprise. Harrison was ranked by many as, not only the No. 1 wideout, but the No. 1 non-quarterback position player in the draft. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck - who went with her gut and predicted GM Monti Ossenfort would do exactly what happened - react mere minutes after commissioner Roger Goodell made the announcement. A finalist for the Heisman Trophy and the winner of the Biletnikoff Award (nation's top receiver), Harrison immediately becomes WR1 for Kyler Murray and the offense, filling a need on that side of the ball.

Ep. 748 - One day away. The finish line, otherwise known as the 2024 NFL Draft, is in sight. Again, the Cardinals have 11 total picks, the most of any team. Six of those picks are in the first 90 with two in the first round. At least that's where things stand as of Wednesday. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck are ready for whatever is to come over the next three days. Stick and pick? Trade down? Trade down and then move back up the board? In addition to one last lookahead, the two revisit a pair of conversations they had during the NFL Scouting Combine with ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller - why he believes the Cardinals control the draft - and NFL Network draft analyst Lance Zierlein - what he expects from GM Monti Ossenfort.

Ep. 747 - Of course, if a quarterback is selected fourth overall, then that means GM Monti Ossenfort has traded the pick. To which team? And for what? All great questions. And questions no one has the answers to. That hasn't stopped the speculation, however. With the draft now just three days away, Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi dive into what is being written and said about the decisions Ossenfort may or may not make. And not just with the No. 4 pick. The Cardinals have - to date - 11 total picks, including six in the first 90 and two in the first round. It's why NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah recently told reporters "this is a 'set your franchise up' situation" in which Ossenfort finds himself in this week.

Ep. 746 - One week away. Only seven days until the 2024 NFL Draft. The Cardinals - at the moment - have 11 picks, including six in the first 90 and two in the first round. So, what will Monti Ossenfort do? Stick and pick? Trade down? Trade down and then trade back up, like he did a year ago? Well, during Thursday's pre-draft presser, Monti was - to no one's surprise - not very forthcoming with his plans. Of course, that didn't stop Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck from discussing, and even dissecting, what he had to say to the assembled media. This much is clear: the Cardinals are in position to help set themselves up for not only this season but several seasons ahead based on their draft capital; so long as there are more hits than misses with their picks.

Ep. 745 - Edge. And cornerback. Those would appear to be the positions of most need on defense; at least in the opinion of both Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman. The annual draft primer series - a position-by-position look at the Cardinals' draft needs - continues this week on azcardinals.com. (Check the archives for a discussion on the offense.) While outside linebacker was not addressed in free agency, cornerback was with the signing of veteran Sean Murphy-Bunting. But, as the saying goes, teams can never have enough cornerbacks. Plus, Zach previews his story on a couple of Cardinals teammates participating in the NFL-USO Tour in Poland.

Ep. 744 - Players arrived back at the Dignity Health Arizona Cardinals Training Center on Monday. (Though many had been regulars since the season ended.) Welcome to the start of the offseason strength and conditioning program. It's called Phase One. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck describe what that means; in other words, what players can and cannot do. Speaking of players, Kyzir White - how's his rehab going - and Trey McBride, who was very excited to be back in the building, spoke with reporters. What did they have to say about the offseason, the new additions made to the roster, and having a healthy Kyler Murray? Plus, next week's draft may be one of the more important ones, in terms of building for the future, in recent memory.

Ep. 743 - If wide receiver is the biggest need on offense, then outside linebacker/edge rusher is the biggest need on defense. At least that's how Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi see it heading into the draft. (Cornerback is a close second.) Last season, the Cardinals ranked near the bottom in sacks plus had among the higher numbers in both opponent quarterback rating and opponent completion percentage. So, how do the Cardinals address the position? Good question. The latest Mel Kiper Jr. mock draft has one scenario, one in which the Cardinals stick-and-pick and select Marvin Harrison Jr. What happens, though, if there is a trade down? What might be the price to move off the fourth overall pick and is there a team willing, and more importantly able, to pay such a cost?

Ep. 742 - After a quick debrief on the solar eclipse - or the lack thereof in Arizona - Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman dive into the draft, focusing on the offensive side of the line of scrimmage. The offensive line also is high on the need list. There are only three players: Paris Johnson Jr., Jonah Williams, and Jon Gaines who are signed beyond 2024. What about quarterback? Running back? Ep. 741 - It is the Cardinals' biggest need, especially on offense. Wide receiver. And specifically, a true No. 1 receiver, or at worst, a receiver who can be paired with Michael Wilson. The wide receiver talk is getting louder because of, not only the need, but where the Cardinals select, which prospects were reportedly in town for visits, and the blockbuster trade between the Bills and Texans. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss how the Cardinals might address wide receiver, whether that's early or late in the first round. Also, might we see a repeat performance out of Monti Ossenfort in terms of a trade down and then a move back up? Last year's draft room video resurfaced on social media this week. Why?

Ep. 740 - It's been a bit quiet on the free-agent front. Yes, the Cardinals are paying attention to those players still on the market - heck, they may even have an interest in signing one, two, or more of them - but, for the moment, their focus has shifted to the draft, which is less than four weeks away. Regardless of if it's free agency or the draft, there are needs that must be addressed. Edge rusher may be the biggest. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss how the Cardinals may want to strengthen the position, including Year 2 improvement from both Zaven Collins and BJ Ojulari. Plus, when it comes to the top three wide receivers in this year's draft class, are our expectations for their projected success too high?

Ep. 739 - Fans are guaranteed to see at least two kickoffs every game. And last season, kickoffs were an afterthought. That's about to change with the league approving new kickoff rules for 2024. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss what it's going to look like and, more importantly, how the Cardinals will likely benefit from the new approach; and maybe why they made DeeJay Dallas an early signing in free agency. Also, the guys go over some of the other news and notes from the Annual League Meeting; what the latest mock drafts are saying about the Cardinals and the fourth overall pick; plus Desmond Ridder addressed reporters this week, what did he say and how does he fit within his new team's quarterback room?

Ep. 738 - No team is in better position for the 2024 NFL Draft than the Arizona Cardinals. Or, more specifically, no one person as Broncos head coach Sean Payton said on Monday from the Annual League Meeting in Orlando. With the fourth overall pick, the Cardinals are the talk of the league. Darren Urban heard all the talk. From Orlando, he joins Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi to discuss what it may take for Monti Ossenfort to part with the team's first first-round selection. Can a team make Ossenfort an offer he can't refuse? Plus, Grialou and Calvisi revisit an earlier conversation concerning a former Cardinals draft pick. Why are they revisiting it? Well, because the player's name has once again resurfaced in the rumor mill.

Ep. 737 - Do you love ball? And do you put team first? That's how Jonathan Gannon defines the price of admission to be an Arizona Cardinal. And, yes, being a good football player is a must. All nine players – to date – signed in free agency paid the price of admission. Gannon and Monti Ossenfort met the media on Wednesday to discuss the moves made thus far. What did they say? Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck go over some of the highlights; the focus on defense, specifically defensive line; don't ask – though it was asked – where Jonah Williams and Paris Johnson will line up; Desmond Ridder's experience played a big factor in his acquisition; fielding trade calls for the No. 4 overall pick; plus "the brutal" decision Ossenfort made to release D.J. Humphries.

Ep. 736 - Back after a week away, Craig Grialou enlists the help of Paul Calvisi to go over everything that happened at the start of the new league year. And there was a lot. Seven players re-signed, seven players signed, one player was acquired and there were a handful of good-byes. The discussion began with GM Monti Ossenfort's focus on the defense, specifically the defensive line; an edge rusher has not been signed yet so might the Cardinals be waiting for the draft, and if so, what does that mean when it comes to the fourth overall pick? Also, backup quarterback was addressed, and if there was still a question about Kyler Murray's status within the building, there isn't anymore. Plus, Aaron Donald retired; and what's this, Paul got a dog over the weekend?!

Ep. 735 - In what is likely the first of many moves to provide the team depth along the defensive line going into next season, the Cardinals re-signed veteran L.J. Collier on Friday. It's a one-year deal ahead of the official start of free agency. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss the decision to bring back Collier, who played less than one game last season after suffering a biceps injury in Week 1. It was one of several injuries suffered at the position, and the Cardinals struggled because of it, especially against the run. Also, wide receiver Greg Dortch is back, a smart move according to Craig and Dani, who both believe Dortch has earned himself more playing time on offense. Will he be given the chance?

Ep. 734 - Free agency begins in one week, so how does GM Monti Ossenfort approach the market? Does he re-sign players? Does he bring in new players? Or is it some combination of both? Bottom line is a lot of decisions need to be made at several different positions. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss some of those decisions, specifically at cornerback, safety and running back; highlighting Zach's free agent primers on azcardinals.com. Also, what are the mock drafts saying post-Scouting Combine? What, if any, are the changes at No. 4 and No. 27? Finally, the guys give an update on offensive lineman Jon Gaines, who missed all of last season with a knee injury, and recently spent time in Florida with a handful of his teammates learning financial literacy.

Ep. 733 - It happens every year. One or two quarterbacks will hear their name called earlier than projected; and for some, a lot earlier. If that happens this year, then the Cardinals, who have the fourth overall pick, stand to benefit. Craig Grialou - fresh off a week-long stay in Indianapolis for the 2024 Scouting Combine - and Paul Calvisi discuss the many options for GM Monti Ossenfort, especially given what happened at the combine. Several prospects impressed last week, including at positions the Cardinals are in very much need of, outside of quarterback of course. Also, free agency begins in a week. Does it make sense to run it back with wide receiver Hollywood Brown?

Ep. 732 - Do the Cardinals go wide receiver or is the choice offensive line? And maybe there is no wrong decision. Charles Davis, NFL Network and NFL on CBS analyst, joined Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck from Indianapolis, site of the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, to talk about what the Cardinals may do with the fourth overall pick. Other topics discussed with Davis included why some teams may prioritize cornerback over edge rusher in the draft, why he's no longer skeptical about Kyler Murray, and what impressed him the most when he was on the call for the Cardinals' Week 15 game against the San Francisco 49ers. Also, Grialou and Sureck revisit what Jonathan Gannon had to say about playing rookies earlier than some coaches may.

Ep. 729 - That's where games are won or lost, right? The Cardinals need to invest in the offensive line and defensive line this offseason. But how? Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman put the line of scrimmage under the microscope. Who's under contract? Who isn't under contract? And then, what's the level of need when looking ahead to free agency and the draft? Speaking of the draft, the Scouting Combine is next week. (Programming note: Cardinals Cover 2 will be in Indianapolis.) More than 300 prospects have been invited. The Cardinals will have their eyes on a number of players. And, again, the line of scrimmage is likely to take priority, especially given the history of GM Monti Ossenfort, as limited as it may be. There is, though, a certain wide receiver out of Ohio State who may be hard to pass up.

Ep. 728 - The Scouting Combine is in two weeks. Free agency begins in one month. The NFL Draft happens at the end of April. In other words, what offseason? This, though, is the time when teams look to improve their rosters. The Cardinals are no exception. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck talk about what's ahead, first with a conversation about the needs on offense and then shifting their attention to the defense, the side of the ball where it may be best to spend to help fill many of the needs. All the above is discussed on what is the one-year anniversary of the Cardinals naming Jonathan Gannon head coach. And, oh yeah, it's Valentine's Day, too. Enjoy the day, Birdgang!

Ep. 727 - Of course, the Cardinals' offseason began more than a month ago. But with Super Bowl 58 now in the rearview mirror, the entire league is on the clock. The goal: to be where the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers were on Sunday, playing for the Lombardi Trophy. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi breakdown the big game, from the plays that were made to the plays that weren't made and the decision to receive to begin overtime. Also, what do the guys think about the report saying former Cardinals linebacker Haason Reddick has received permission to seek a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles? And the noise is getting louder - in a good way - about this year's draft class of quarterbacks. Will the GM Monti Ossenfort listen to trade offers for pick No. 4?

Ep. 726 - Is James Conner's stiff arm of Patrick Peterson in Week 13 worthy of Angry Run of the Year? Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman certainly think so. Everyone will find out on Thursday, when the Angry Run of the Year will be announced as part of NFL Honors. Budda Baker (Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award) and Jonathan Ledbetter (Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year) may also hear their names called during the league's annual awards show. Also, the guys discuss why wide receiver has been a popular position among the Cardinals' signings of future contracts; of course, the Super Bowl; plus Zach's hatred for squirrels (and cats apparently), yes squirrels.

Ep. 725 - It is officially Super Bowl week. But before Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss the big game, they discuss the just completed Pro Bowl and all the event's activities. Budda Baker was the Cardinals' lone representative. He had a hand in the NFC's win over the AFC. He also stopped to talk with Sureck, who was in Orlando leading up to Sunday's game. What did Baker have to say? How does Baker feel about the Cardinals after Year 1 under Monti Ossenfort and Jonathan Gannon? Also, Kliff Kingsbury is back in the league. And he'll be coming back to State Farm Stadium next season. Grialou and Sureck give their thoughts on the Washington Commanders new offensive coordinator.

Ep. 724 - Teams are built from the inside out. That said, the Cardinals are in great position with the fourth overall pick. Do they go offensive line, or do they go wide receiver? Is there a right answer? Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss the options. Of course, Calvisi is hoping GM Monti Ossenfort trades down, adding more draft capital. Also, they react in real time to the Cardinals' first two moves in free agency - re-signing linebacker Jesse Luketa and offensive lineman Carter O'Donnell - as well as the reported news that the Seattle Seahawks have hired Mike Macdonald, the now former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator, as their new head coach.

Ep. 723 - The offseason is not even a month old and there is already some early buzz that the Cardinals will be a playoff team in 2024. Of course, a lot needs to happen between now and then, but it does speak to how well the team competed in Jonathan Gannon's first season as head coach. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck talk playoffs, both next season and this season. How do they feel about the Super Bowl matchup: 49ers and Chiefs? Especially the 49ers' presence in the big game? Also, Sureck is headed to the Pro Bowl later in the week. The game is Sunday. Budda Baker will be there. Might one of his teammates be joining him? Maybe Trey McBride?

Ep. 722 - It is award season and, well, Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman didn't want to be left out. It is time for the 2023 Cardinals Awards, as voted by the 30-person Content & Creative Team. There are six categories. Some winners were more obvious than others. Other winners faced tougher competition, most notably Offensive Player of the Year and Beyond the Box Score Player of the Year. All results have been posted on azcardinals.com. Do you agree? Do you disagree? Also, the guys look ahead to the weekend and Championship Sunday. Who do they see representing the AFC and NFC and therefore will be headed to Las Vegas and Super Bowl 58.

Ep. 721 - No dancing, like John Harbaugh. Shirts will remain on, unlike Jason Kelce. With that said, Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi dive into the divisional round of the playoffs; the biggest stories coming from the weekend's four games. Of course, one of the bigger stories - at least for Cardinals fans - is the Cardinals now know their second first-round pick in April's draft will be 27th overall. That led to a discussion about positions of need plus talk of how well Paris Johnson Jr. performed in his first season in the league. Also, the guys shout-out a handful of assistants who have been selected to coach in two of the upcoming all-star games, the East-West Shrine Bowl and Senior Bowl.

Ep. 720 - Ahead of next week's announcement of the annual Arizona Cardinals Year-End Awards, Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss - after a brief conversation about Blockbuster Video, a conversation Dani started much to the surprise and enjoyment of Craig - who they voted for in six separate categories. They agreed on Newcomer of the Year, Beyond the Box Score Player of the Year and Play of the Year. They disagreed on Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Cardinal. There was also discussion about this weekend's playoff games. Who do they see surviving the divisional round?

Ep. 719 - A loss on Sunday ended the regular season, but it did not end the good feelings surrounding the 2023 Arizona Cardinals. In fact, it's just the opposite. There is a lot to look forward to; and, yes, a lot of work to do. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi begin the offseason discussion, first with a look back at the 21-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks - who knows, maybe come April the loss will be a blessing in disguise - and then they point to the number of positives, both individually and collectively as an organization. Also, for one final time, Calvisi hands out his weekly Angry Bird Award. The winner, based on his performance in Week 18, should not be a surprise to anyone.

Ep. 718 - Never has James Conner ran for 1,000 yards in a season. And only once has he eclipsed 900 rushing yards in a season. Conner has a chance to reach both milestones on Sunday when the Cardinals host the Seattle Seahawks. It is the last game of the season, and what better way to go out than with a win and a career achievement. Also, a win would eliminate the Seahawks from the playoffs. A bonus if you will. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman look ahead to the Week 18 matchup; who will, who won't be available and what Jonathan Gannon said about the season-finale. Plus, the guys get the Seattle perspective. John Boyle, team reporter for the Seahawks, joins the show.

Ep. 717 - Very unfortunate news on Wednesday. Starting left tackle - and the longest-tenured Cardinals player - D.J. Humphries will miss the season finale on Sunday, and he will likely miss a good chunk of the start of next season due to torn ACL. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss what that means moving forward for the offensive line, a position that has been a pleasant surprise this season. Other pleasant surprises this season: running back Michael Carter and wide receiver Greg Dortch. Both, it appears, have solidified their roster spots in 2024. And maybe it didn't need to be said, but Jonathan Gannon said it anyway. Kyler Murray is his franchise quarterback, answering the biggest question going into the season.

Ep. 716 - No question it was the best win of the season. And for head coach Jonathan Gannon, it had to have been the most satisfying win of the season. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi look back at Sunday's come-from-behind 35-31 victory at the Philadelphia Eagles. So many contributors - Gannon does like to say "it takes all 11 on the field." Kyler Murray played his best game of the season; James Conner highlighted a rushing attack that totaled better than 200 yards - shout-out to the offensive line and center Hjalte Froholdt who earned Calvisi's Angry Bird Award for the week - there was production from the wide receiver position; and let's not forget about the defense, which started its 16th different lineup in as many games. Not a bad way to begin 2024.

Ep. 715 - When the schedule was released in May, this was among the more anticipated matchups. And it had nothing to do with the players themselves. No, it had everything to do with the two head coaches and the location. On Sunday in Philadelphia, head coach Jonathan Gannon faces good friend and the man he worked under for two years with the Eagles as defensive coordinator, Nick Sirianni, in the city whose fanbase still harbors resentment about Gannon's departure. It should be a fun one in Week 17. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman look ahead to the game, which will see Kyler Murray play quarterback despite an illness earlier in the week. Plus, the guys get the Philadelphia perspective. Dave Spadaro, team reporter for the Eagles, joins the show.

Ep. 714 - The Cardinals haven't faced a ton of dual-threat quarterbacks this season. Lamar Jackson comes to mind back in Week 8. But here the Cardinals are, for the second straight week, preparing to face a quarterback who is as good with his arm as he is with his legs. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss what to expect from Jalen Hurts and what the Cardinals defense may have learned from just playing Justin Fields. A different challenge, yes; yet the goal is the same: keep the quarterback in the pocket, something they did not do last week. Also, the latest from practice. No Kyler Murray or Hollywood Brown, but there was a Leki Fotu sighting as he has been designated to return from injured reserve.

Ep. 713 - And here's hoping the Cardinals deliver what every fan wants: a win. The Cardinals will be spending Christmas Eve day in Chicago, the first of back-to-back road games to close out the calendar year. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss the matchup. Who is and who isn't available? Plus, the guys get the Chicago perspective. Kevin Fishbain, Bears beat writer for The Athletic, joins the show. The Bears have the No. 1 run defense, and we know what happened the last time the Cardinals faced the league's best against the run; they ran for a season-high 234 yards. The key, though, may be Trey McBride. He's on every team's radar now coming off a second 100-receiving yard game.

Ep. 712 - The number is zero. As in zero sacks over the past three weeks. And it's not just about the sacks. The Cardinals aren't doing enough to affect the quarterback, and the defense has suffered as a result. The solution? Find what the Chicago Bears, this week's opponent, found with the acquisition of Montez Sweat. He has almost single-handily turned around that defense. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck go over some of the numbers. Plus, there is news - and not good news - in the tight end room; how do the Cardinals get more production out of their wide receivers; and why Sureck is keeping her fingers crossed the weather stays rain-free on Sunday.

Ep. 711 - One thing is guaranteed about the 2023 Arizona Cardinals: They will compete. And they will compete until the clock shows triple zeros. Unfortunately, when that happened on Sunday, the Cardinals were on the wrong end of a 45-29 decision to the visiting San Francisco 49ers. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi - yes, he's back - look back at the Week 15 loss. The offense was good, at times, i.e., James Conner and Trey McBride, but field goals were not going to beat the 49ers; though Matt Prater did earn the coveted Angry Bird Award for the week. Defensively, just too much Brock Purdy and too much Christian McCaffrey. Too much of the time it just looked too easy for the, once again, NFC West division winners.

Ep. 710 - To be honest, it's a very good offense that Brock Purdy - valley native - is leading. And that is the challenge facing the Cardinals on Sunday. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman preview the Week 15 matchup at State Farm Stadium. It's the second time the Cardinals will face the 49ers, though the first time with Kyler Murray, who missed the Week 4 game. The Cardinals are 2-2 since Murray's return. The 49ers, meanwhile, with Purdy, not only lead the NFC West, but they also lead the entire NFC thanks to the league's third-best scoring offense and No. 1 scoring defense. For more on what's been going right in San Francisco, the guys are joined by Lindsey Pallares, team reporter for the 49ers.

Ep. 709 - Four games left. Two at home. Two on the road. Two against the division. And all are important for a number of players, when we start looking ahead to next season. The coaches won't look ahead, but Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck will. Who, outside of Kyler Murray, are these final four games most important for, both on offense and defense? Also, the latest from Wednesday's practice. Hollywood Brown wasn't spotted during the open portion. There were Michael Wilson, Antonio Hamilton and Starling Thomas sightings, however; all three had been dealing with injuries heading into the bye week. Plus, the NFL is expanding its international reach when it comes to regular season games. Might the Cardinals be making a trip overseas soon?

Ep. 708 - After a few days off, it was back to work for coaches and players on Monday. And it appeared that the bye week was beneficial for a handful of players who had been missing in action. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman speak to who was - Michael Wilson - and who wasn't - Hollywood Brown - on the practice field. Other topics of discussion included what a returning Antonio Hamilton may mean at cornerback; the multiple honors earned by James Conner after his performance against the Steelers; how well Trey McBride is playing; an early look at Sunday's opponent, NFC-West leading 49ers; and why the Cardinals will have a say in who becomes the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

Ep. 707 - In the end, the weather was not a factor. It just delayed the outcome; and maybe even made the result even more impressive. The Cardinals went into Pittsburgh, braved the elements, and left Acrisure Stadium with a 24-10 win and their first road victory of the season. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi look back at all that went right for the Cardinals, highlighted by the homecoming performance of James Conner. Ep. 706 - It has been three years since James Conner left Pittsburgh, his home both in college and the start of his NFL career, for Arizona. Sunday marks his return. And hopefully marks his return to being the focal point of the offense. James was not last week against the Rams. This week, though, that should change. It needs to change. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss the game with the Steelers, who are playing good football right now. Also, the guys get the Pittsburgh perspective. Ep. 705 - Six carries is not enough. James Conner needs to be featured more, and this may be the perfect week to get him the football. He's going back to Pittsburgh. Plus, weather may be a factor. Ep. 704 - Three games. Seven weeks of practice. Kyler Murray is just getting started, while the rest of his teammates are nearing the end. So, yes, there are going to be games like Sunday, especially on offense. But what separated Week 12 from the previous weeks was that it wasn't just the offense. It was the defense. It was special teams. It was the entire team. And as a result, the Cardinals lost to the Los Angeles Rams, 37-14. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss what happened, or better said, what didn't happen. Also, what Dennis Gardeck had to say to Calvisi postgame is worth a listen. Ep. 703 - For the first time this season, the Cardinals will see a team for a second time. It was six weeks ago when the Cardinals and Rams last played. It did not go well for the Cardinals, especially in the second half. The difference this time around? Well, for one, Kyler Murray will be on the field and in action. He was a spectator during the first meeting. Also, James Conner, Budda Baker and Jalen Thompson all missed the game in L.A. Can those four players be enough to help the Cardinals earn a split in the season series? Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman look ahead to the Week 12 matchup. Ep. 702 – Happy Thanksgiving, Birdgang! There may not be a better day on the calendar. A day that combines three of our favorite things. Before the holiday, Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck begin to look ahead to the Week 12 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Who will be available? Who might not be available? And should we be concerned about Michael Wilson's shoulder injury? Plus, Kyzir White was spotted at practice just three days after suffering a season-ending injury; Josh Woods, by the way, is ready to step into White's role as quarterback of the defense; Budda Baker will play in his 100th career game on Sunday; and a discussion on Hollywood Brown's production, both the good and the bad.

Ep. 701 - There was a lack of complimentary football played on Sunday in Houston. The offense and the defense never could get on the same page. The offense started well and then sputtered, while the defense got off to a slow start before pitching a shutout in the second half. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman look back at the 21-16 loss to the Texans. "Frustrating" is the word Kyler Murray used to describe what happened, or better said what didn't happen, especially on fourth down. The defense recorded three interceptions, yet no points were scored off any of the takeaways. It was a missed opportunity. Speaking of opportunity, Greg Dortch took advantage of his and he earned this week's Angry Bird Award.

After a rough first half on Sunday, the Cardinals defense held the Texans scoreless in the second half surrendering just 86 yards and forcing two big turnovers. However the offense could not capitalize on Houston's mistakes and the Texans held on to win by a score of 21-16 at NRG Stadium. Dani Sureck, Jody Jackson and Zach Gershman discuss several missed opportunities that contributed to the loss, Kyler Murray's performance in his second game of the year and how the Cardinals can learn and grow in defeat.

Ep. 700 - Yes, a lot of eyes will be on Kyler Murray on Sunday. He's making his second straight start and first start on the road. How does he follow up his season debut? Well, a similar question can be asked about Trey McBride. After a career day a week ago, what does the second-year tight end do for an encore? Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss both Murray and McBride as it relates to this week's game at the Houston Texans, a team that is surprising a lot of people, particularly the play of their rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, who has entered the MVP conversation. The guys give their thoughts. Plus, they venture into enemy territory. Drew Dougherty, TV host for the Texans, joins the show.

Ep. 699 - Game one was good. Very good. Kyler Murray checked off a lot of boxes in his return. Another box will be checked this week when he plays in his first road game. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss both Murray's performance against the Atlanta Falcons and what awaits against the Houston Texans. Also, there are good conversations about how the Cardinals are getting healthier – D.J. Ep. 698 - It was like he was never hurt. Kyler Murray looked like Kyler Murray on Sunday. In other words, he showed no signs of a knee injury that had kept him sidelined for the past 11 months. Murray's return helped the Cardinals return to the win column for the first time since Week 3. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss what they saw from Murray in a 25-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons. In addition, it was good to see James Conner back running the football; Trey McBride do something no Cardinals tight end had done in 34 years; the emergence of rookie edge rusher BJ Ojulari; and the consistency that is Matt Prater when attempting field goals of 50+ yards. In other words, there was a lot to like in Week 10.

Ep. 697 - When Kyler Murray takes the field on Sunday, it will have been 335 days since he last played in a game. In other words, a long time ago. There is excitement. There is curiosity. There is a lot of unknown. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman look ahead to Murray's return and the matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. The Cardinals also are expected to have the services of James Conner. But what will the offensive line look like? Starters D.J. Humphries and Will Hernandez are hurt, while Trystan Colon has missed the past two games. Plus, the guys get the Atlanta perspective. Ep. 696 - Activated off PUP. Taking first-team reps. All signs are pointing to Kyler Murray making his season debut as the Arizona Cardinals starting quarterback on Sunday. So, what do we want to see; what do we hope to see? Also, who benefits the most from Murray's return? All questions Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck tackle on Wednesday's show. And Murray may not be the only player back this week. James Conner has been designated to return, opening up his 21-day practice window. Grialou and Sureck believe there is a very good chance Conner joins Murray on the field against the Atlanta Falcons. Conner's absence has been a big one within the offense. Both Murray and Conner would be welcome additions in Week 10.

Ep. 695 - Not a good homecoming for the head coach. Not a good first impression by the rookie quarterback. Almost nothing went right for the Cardinals on Sunday. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi look back at the 27-0 loss in Cleveland, the hometown of Jonathan Gannon. Meanwhile, fifth-round draft pick Clayton Tune did not play well in his first career start. Then, again, the entire offense did not play well. The guys wonder out loud, is help on the way? In other words, is Kyler Murray going to make his season debut this week? The defense played OK against the Browns, highlighted by a front seven that allowed a season-low 2.8 rushing yards per attempt. So, Calvisi highlights one of its members - Leki Fotu - with the Angry Bird Award.

Ep. 694 - Will it be Kyler Murray or will it be Clayton Tune who gets the start in Cleveland on Sunday? Head coach Jonathan Gannon said Friday he'd know in the "next 24 hours" who will be QB1. The expectation, though, is that Tune will get the nod. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss what the offense might look like with the fifth-round draft pick out of Houston under center. And, more importantly, how the offense handles the league's No. 1 defense led by perhaps the league's most disruptive pass rusher, Myles Garrett. Also, the guys get the Cleveland perspective. Kelsey Russo, staff writer for the Browns, joins the show. There is no question who they will start at quarterback. Deshaun Watson was announced the starter on Friday.

Ep. 693 - New week, same question. Is this the week we see Kyler Murray make his season debut? There is a possibility, though Dani Sureck is done making predictions on the subject. She - wrongfully - thought Murray would play against the Baltimore Ravens. Sureck and Craig Grialou are in agreement in their belief that it will be Clayton Tune, the rookie out of Houston, who will be QB1 in Cleveland. And if it is Tune, then the Cardinals would likely start four rookies - running back Emari Demercado, wide receiver Michael Wilson and right tackle Paris Johnson joining Tune - on offense. The Cardinals have gotten significant contributions from several of their rookies, on both sides of the ball.

Ep. 692 - Turnovers. Turnovers on downs. The Cardinals did themselves no favors on Sunday. The loss to the Baltimore Ravens was not as close as the final score would indicate. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi look back at the 31-24 defeat. Joshua Dobbs did not play well. He hasn't played well now for a good four games, yet he will remain the starter according to Jonathan Gannon. Should he? Is Clayton Tune an option? When might Kyler Murray be an option? The defense, meanwhile, played well enough to win. Bright spots? There were a few. Rookies Emari Demercado and Dante Stills are making the most of their opportunities; as is second-year tight end Trey McBride, whose career day earned him Calvisi's Angry Bird Award nod for the week.

Ep. 691 - For the first time, Hollywood Brown faces his former team. The reunion takes place on Sunday when the Baltimore Ravens visit State Farm Stadium. Brown leads the Cardinals in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. In other words, he's having a good year. Now, will he have his good friend Kyler Murray throwing him the football here in Week 8? That is an excellent question. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss the possibility of Murray playing, how important it is for Brown to have a good game, and, of course, the challenge Lamar Jackson presents to a defense. Also, they get the Baltimore perspective. Clifton Brown, staff writer for the Ravens, joins the show.

Ep. 690 – Is two weeks of practice enough for Kyler Murray to make his return? Dani Sureck believes it is, and she has been steadfast in her belief ever since Murray was designated to return. Craig Grialou, meanwhile, thinks Murray would benefit from more practice time before making his season debut. Who's right? We'll see. But it should be noted that Murray was listed as a full participant on Wednesday's injury report. In other words, advantage Sureck. Other topics discussed included Budda Baker's return, Garrett Williams' season debut, and what might the secondary look like moving forward once Jalen Thompson returns.

Ep. 689 - It's a passing league and right now, the Cardinals don't have a passing game. At least not a successful passing game. Is that on the quarterback, the offensive line, the receivers, or a combination of all of the above? Whatever the reason, the Cardinals need to get it fixed. That is the backdrop as Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss Sunday's 20-10 loss at the Seattle Seahawks. While the offense seemed to be stuck in neutral, the defense played well - at least well enough to win. Three takeaways, in most cases, leads to victory. The Cardinals forced two fumbles and had an interception; recorded by this week's Angry Bird Award winner, rookie cornerback Garrett Williams.

Ep. 688 - Five games. That's how long it's been since Budda Baker has played. The expectation, at least from Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman, is that Baker will return on Sunday, when the Cardinals visit the Seattle Seahawks, which just happens to be Baker's hometown team. That, plus knowing how much Baker hates to be on the sideline, is what has led the guys to make that conclusion. Also, they get the Seattle perspective. John Boyle, senior reporter for the Seahawks, joins the show. The Cardinals have lost three in a row, including two losses within the NFC West. The good news is the Cardinals have had success playing in Seattle. Their nine wins at Lumen Field since 2002 are the most than any visiting team.

Ep. 687 - A two-word tweet just before 10 a.m. was what Cardinals fans had been waiting for. "Practicing today," Kyler Murray wrote. And true to his word(s), Murray was in his No. 1 practice jersey with the rest of his teammates on Wednesday; for the first time in more than 10 months. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck react to what they saw -- as limited as it may have been -- as well as what the day's news means. Murray wasn't the only player back on the practice field. Budda Baker was designated to return off injured reserve. He is, obviously, much closer to playing than Murray; and wouldn't it be nice to see Baker this week against his hometown team, the Seattle Seahawks?

Ep. 686 - Too bad Sunday's game didn't end at halftime. The Cardinals played decent football in the first half and went into the locker room with a 9-6 lead. Coming out of the locker room, however, things changed. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss what happened, or better said, what didn't happen. The Cardinals couldn't take care of the football; they couldn't stop the run; and, ultimately, they couldn't win the game, losing 26-9 at the Los Angeles Rams. Hollywood Brown sounded frustrated. Joshua Dobbs shouldered the blame. A lot to get into, and don't forget, Calvisi hands out his weekly Angry Bird Award, which this week had a surprise winner.

Ep. 685 - The Arizona Diamondbacks beat L.A., swept the Dodgers out of the playoffs. Can the Cardinals follow the D-backs lead? Can they beat L.A. and hand the Rams their second straight loss? That's the goal. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman breakdown the Week 6 matchup between NFC West rivals. Also, they get the L.A. perspective. Stu Jackson, senior staff writer for the Rams, joins the show. The Rams have been a pass first - and often second and third - team so far this season; and now they have Cooper Kupp back on the field. Then there's Aaron Donald, who has wreaked havoc on the Cardinals ever since he entered the league. It should be a fun one on Sunday.

Ep. 684 - Without James Conner for at least the next four games, who do the Cardinals turn to at running back? Keaontay Ingram? Emari Demercado? Or, perhaps some combination of both? Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck give their two cents. Whichever direction the Cardinals go in - they also have Tony Jones Jr. on the active roster plus veterans Corey Clement and Damien Williams on the practice squad - the running game is key to the success of the offense. Other topics discussed included Hollywood Brown's absence at practice on Wednesday; the lack of targets for Michael Wilson against the Bengals; and what might a secondary look like if Jalen Thompson is unable to play this week.

Ep. 683 - Of course, this had to be the week the Cincinnati Bengals offense figured things out. And boy did they ever. The Cardinals had no answer for wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, who had himself a career day at the expense of the home team. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi discuss what happened on Sunday. The 34-20 loss was punctuated by a poor defensive performance - to which Jonathan Gannon took full responsibility - and an offense that turned the ball over way too many times and played much of the game minus James Conner which thrust rookie Emari Demercado into the spotlight. He performed well as did another rookie, defensive lineman Dante Stills, who earned Calvisi's weekly Angry Bird Award.

Ep. 682 - To repeat the popular Bill Belichick response, the Cardinals are moving past the loss at the San Francisco 49ers, and they are now focused on the Bengals. It is a matchup of a pair of 1-3 teams seemingly heading in opposite directions in terms of the expectations each had going into the season. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman breakdown the game here in Week 5. Also, they get the Cincinnati perspective. Geoff Hobson, senior writer for the Bengals, joins the show. By the way, Sunday's game will feature the debut of the black alternate uniforms, which Jonathan Gannon is very much looking forward to. "It'll look sweet," he said.

Ep. 681 - On Wednesday, cornerback Garrett Williams and offensive lineman Dennis Daley were designated to return, meaning they could begin practicing, which they both did. That's good news. Especially Williams, the team's third-round pick last April. The Cardinals could use some help at the position. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss when Williams may be available to play, while at the same time they ask how much longer until Kyler Murray is designated to return. He's eligible, but, obviously, he's not ready. Not yet anyway. In Murray's absence, Joshua Dobbs has stepped in, and he's played good football. At times, some very good football.

Ep. 680 - Give the Cardinals credit. Down 18 in the first half, the team pulled to within one score late in the third quarter. The 49ers, though, just had too much talent on the field and pulled away for a 35-16 win in San Francisco. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi look back at Sunday's game; how encouraged both are despite the outcome and a defense missing so many players. At 1-3, the Cardinals appear headed in the right direction, and that is no more evident than the early performances by rookie wide receiver Michael Wilson, who earned Calvisi's weekly Angry Bird Award. Also discussed, Zach Ertz's targets; Ezekiel Turner's first start of the season; and why players are looking forward to the rematch against the 49ers in December.

Ep. 679 - For the second week in a row, the Cardinals face an undefeated opponent. Can they, for the second week in a row, put a dent in that opponent's record? It won't be easy, and maybe more difficult than last week's assignment. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman preview Sunday's game against the 49ers. Also, they get the San Francisco perspective. Lindsey Pallares, team reporter for the 49ers, joins the show. First though, there are injury concerns at wide receiver and once again at defensive line. Will Hollywood Brown play? He hurt his thumb during practice on Thursday. Jonathan Ledbetter won't play, marking the third straight game a defensive lineman has been ruled out. What are the Cardinals' options at both positions?

Ep. 678 - Each of the Cardinals' first four opponents are teams the Philadelphia Eagles played last season. What does that matter? Well, head coach Jonathan Gannon and defensive coordinator Nick Rallis were both with the Eagles in 2022. So, too, was linebacker Kyzir White. That's big, especially going into this week's matchup at San Francisco, one of the three remaining undefeated teams. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck look ahead to what White and the Cardinals defense is up against. Also discussed, the national talk surrounding the Cardinals; cornerback play by both Marco Wilson and Kei'Trel Clark; and when is it realistic to see Kyler Murray, Myjai Sanders and/or Garrett Williams in a game.

Ep. 677 - And that, football fans, is why you play the game. So what, no one picked the Cardinals to win, or maybe even be competitive on Sunday. The front office believed. The coaches believed. The players believed. And the result was validation of a week's worth of work. Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi look back at the 28-16 win - the first of the season - against the Dallas Cowboys. So many stars, from Joshua Dobbs, James Conner and the entire offensive line to Kyzir White and a defense that held the Cowboys to two field goals over four second-half red zone trips. Calvisi, who avoided serious injury during the game, was so impressed with the o-line that he made them his weekly Angry Bird Award winner(s).

Ep. 676 - It is going to be a challenge. There is no question about that. But that is what players like Joshua Dobbs embrace. They embrace the challenge. The Cowboys enter this week with the No. 1 defense in the league. It is a unit that ranks first in 11 different statistical categories and arguably has the best player in the game in linebacker Micah Parsons. Ep. 675 - When is Kyler Murray returning? Soon, he said in a social media post on Wednesday. So, what does that mean exactly? Great question. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck do their best to read into Murray's message. Other topics discussed by the two: the defensive line suffers another blow, and it's another biceps injury; with a full week of practice, the Cardinals should be better prepared for playing without Budda Baker; the challenge Joshua Dobbs and the offense face going against Micah Parsons, who was just named NFC Defensive Player of the Week; and with the Cowboys in town, just how many of Sureck's family members will also be in town?

Ep. 674 - What happened? Yeah, it's a question all of us are asking on this Monday morning. The Cardinals led by 20 at halftime and 21 points five minutes into the third quarter, yet Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi are talking about a 31-28 loss to the New York Giants in Week 2. Was it the offense? Was it the defense? Was it coaching? Or maybe it was a combination of all the above. The Cardinals played very well in the first half and then not so well in the second half. Grialou and Calvisi go over the good and the bad; and then Calvisi hands out his weekly Angry Bird Award, which went to quarterback Joshua Dobbs.

Ep. 673 - Running the football is key. And sure, that can be said each week, but perhaps more so this week. The expectation is James Conner needs to have a big day in order for the Cardinals to get a win. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman discuss Sunday's matchup against the Giants. Both want to see Conner get more touches than he did in Week 1. Obviously, that's easier said than done. Stopping the run will be important as well. The Giants feature one of the better backs in the game in Saquon Barkley. Also, the guys get the New York perspective. Ep. 672 - Can one week make that much of a difference? Joshua Dobbs believes so. And hopefully he's right. Dobbs and the offense need to be much better than they were in Week 1 if the Cardinals have a chance at winning on Sunday. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss what they'd like to see out of the offense, i.e., Dobbs targeting his wide receivers and doing so more downfield. There was a lack of explosive plays against the Commanders. Also, Grialou and Sureck ask if six sacks are sustainable for the defense, which could be without two starters this week. Both defensive lineman L.J. Collier and inside linebacker Josh Woods did not practice on Wednesday.

Ep. 671 - Three takeaways. Six sacks. Seven passes defensed. The Cardinals defense - on all three levels - excelled in Week 1. The offense, though, did not. It was a struggle a lot of the time for quarterback Joshua Dobbs and company. And that has led many to ask should a change be made? Should Clayton Tune be the starter this week? Craig Grialou and Paul Calvisi debate the idea. There was no debate, however, how well Dennis Gardeck, Zaven Collins, Kei'Trel Clark among others played. In fact, Gardeck played so well - two sacks, three quarterback hits, and one forced fumble - that Calvisi named him his first weekly Angry Bird Award winner.

Ep. 670 - Seven months after he was hired, Jonathan Gannon makes his head coaching debut when the Cardinals play at the Washington Commanders on Sunday. It is Week 1 of Year 1 for Gannon and his staff. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman look ahead to the game. And, no, there still has not been an official announcement about who will be the starting quarterback. What about Zach Ertz? Will he play? He's 10 months post-ACL/MCL surgery. Later, Zach Selby, senior writer for commanders.com, joins the show to further dive into the matchup, though this time from the opponent's point of view. Football is back.

Ep. 669 - Nothing is official. And there won't be anything official, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon; though a report surfaced Wednesday saying Joshua Dobbs is expected to be the team's starting quarterback Week 1 at Washington. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss the news of the day. Neither are surprised. Dobbs had been trending to be QB1 since his arrival. What would surprise Grialou and Sureck when looking ahead to Sunday's game? They put the spotlight on the edge rushers. Also, 11 rookies made the 53-man roster. Three are listed first-team on the depth chart. Youth is being served in 2023.

Ep. 668 - The 53-man roster is set, for now anyway. What isn't set yet, and likely won't be until gameday, according to Jonathan Gannon, is who will be the team's starting quarterback Week 1 at Washington. The expectation, though, is that it will be Joshua Dobbs, who only joined the team earlier this week. Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck discuss their first impressions of the newcomer. How realistic is it for Dobbs to be QB1 when the season begins September 10? Dobbs isn't the only recent addition. On Wednesday, the Cardinals claimed a league-high six players, including three offensive linemen, two of whom play center.

Ep. 667 - And now there are five quarterbacks on the roster, though one is not yet healthy enough to play so really, it's four. Craig Grialou is back, and this time he's joined by Paul Calvisi – Darren Urban was a bit busy due to the breaking news – to discuss all things quarterback. Kyler Murray will remain on the physically unable to perform list, which is not a surprise, and Colt McCoy has been released; that was a surprise. That leaves Clayton Tune, David Blough, Jeff Driskel, and Joshua Dobbs, who was recently acquired from the Cleveland Browns. Who starts Week 1? Great question. Grialou and Calvisi have their thoughts because head coach Jonathan Gannon isn't saying, and won't until Week 1.

Ep. 666 - Six quarterbacks on the roster. Which two, or three, make the 53-man roster? And this is assuming Kyler Murray opens the season on the physically unable to perform list, where he's been since the start of training camp. Craig Grialou and Darren Urban try to reach a consensus ahead of Tuesday, the day when teams must reduce their rosters. Also, who maybe played their way on to the roster over the week spent in Minnesota; how injuries may impact roster decisions; and what does it say about the players - like rookies Michael Wilson and Kei'Trel Clark -- who didn't play in the preseason finale.
