Evan Marcus is in his 18th season in the NFL and second as the Cardinals strength and conditioning coach. He came to Arizona in 2023 after spending the previous seven seasons (2016-22) with the Cleveland Browns as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Besides working with the Cardinals, Marcus has been the head strength and conditioning coach with three different NFL teams (Minnesota 2014-15; Miami 2008-10; Atlanta 2007) while also working as an assistant with two other organizations (New Orleans 2000-02; Cleveland 2016-22). He has been a part of three division winning teams (Minnesota 2015, Miami 2008, New Orleans 2000) during his career in the NFL.
Marcus returned to the state of Arizona last year after starting his coaching career as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Arizona State University (1991-92) where he also earned a master's degree in 1992. He has worked in the strength and conditioning field for 33 years, including 16 years at the collegiate level at Virginia (2011-13; '03-06), Louisville (1998-99), Texas (1995-97), Maryland (1994), Rutgers (1993) and Arizona State (1991-92).
In between stints in the NFL with Miami and Minnesota, Marcus went back to the University of Virginia for his second tenure with the Cavaliers and served as the director of football training and player development from 2011-13. He had previously worked as the strength and conditioning coach at Virginia from 2003-06.
Marcus played football as an offensive lineman at Ithaca College and was a three-time letterman who started in the 1988 Division II National Championship game. He graduated from Ithaca with a degree in Exercise Science in 1990. Marcus and his wife, Lori, have a son, Jake and daughter, Anna.
