Matt Harriss is in his sixth season with the Cardinals as Director, Football Administration after joining the team in February, 2019.
With the Cardinals, Harriss works on all player contract negotiations as well as strategic planning and management of the team's salary cap and compliance with the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement. He also serves as the Cardinals liaison to the NFL Management Council and works with the team's scouting staff and coaching staff on various statistical projects and in-depth analysis.
Harriss joined the Cardinals in 2019 from the Detroit Lions where he spent three seasons (2016-18) as Vice President of Football Administration.
Harriss spent 10 seasons (2006–15) as a member of a New York Giants front office that led the franchise to two Super Bowl championships (Super Bowl XLII following the 2007 season and Super Bowl XLVI following the 2011 season). In his first season with the Giants in 2006, Harriss assisted former GM Ernie Accorsi who was in his final season with the team. After that first season, Harriss worked directly on salary cap management, CBA compliance and contract negotiations. He finished his tenure with the Giants as the team's Director of Football Operations.
Prior to working with the Giants, Harriss spent five seasons (2001-05) working at NFL Headquarters in New York City. He started in 2001 as an intern in the football operations department and then transitioned into a player personnel analyst with the NFL Management Council. While a member of the Management Council, Harriss worked on salary cap and free agency management, annual NFL Draft eligibility, as well as being versed on the Collective Bargaining Agreement and all personnel rules to assist all 32 NFL teams. He also worked with the NFL's officiating department as an instant replay booth communicator during games in his final three seasons at the league office.
Harriss currently serves as a member of the NFL's Club Services Committee which consists of club representatives addressing changes throughout in the league in technology, application development, and quality control concerning the salary cap, players contracts and the CBA.
The Bronxville, NY native graduated from Lafayette College with a bachelor's degree in History in 2001. Harriss and his wife Melissa, have two sons, Luke and Trent.
