A team captain as a senior in 2023, Taylor-Demerson started 37-of-60 games played in five seasons (2019-23) at Texas Tech and had 242 tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss, 10 INTs, 22 passes defensed, 2.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries … also had seven kickoff returns for 124 yards … became the second Red Raider in the Big 12 era to lead the team in INTs in three straight seasons and finished his collegiate career tied for 10th in school history with 10 career INTs.
2023: Named a team captain and earned second-team All-Big 12 accolades in his final season as a super senior and started 13-of-14 games … totaled 75 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, seven passes defensed and a career-high four INTs … recorded four or more tackles in 12 of 13 contests and had multiple tackles in all 13 games … broke up a pass or had an interception in eight different games … capped his season with seven tackles and two passes defensed vs. Cal (12/16) in the Independence Bowl.
2022: As a senior in 2022, started 12-of-13 games at safety and had 74 tackles (54 solo), 5.5 tackles for loss, a sack, three INTs, five passes defensed, a career-high two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries … his 74 tackles led all defensive backs and ranked third on the team … tied for first in the Big 12 in fumble recoveries and was tied for sixth in INTs … led the team in INTs for the second consecutive season … all of his tackles for loss on the season were followed by a three and out, failed fourth down or a missed field goal … had a career-high nine tackles at TCU (11/5) along with the first sack of his career … recorded eight tackles, a fumble recovery and an INT in the win vs. Ole Miss (12/28) in the Texas Bowl.
2021: Appeared in 12 games with seven starts in 2021 … totaled 62 tackles (41 solo), a half tackle for loss and three INTs along with a team and career high 10 passes defensed … led the team in INTs … registered at least one tackle in 11 games … was the highest rated player in coverage on the team with an 80.2 overall grade … had his first career INT at Texas (9/25) and added two pass breakups and five tackles … had three pass deflections and four tackles vs. Mississippi State (12/28) in the Liberty Bowl.
2020: Played all 10 games with three starts as a sophomore in 2020 … appeared on both defense and special teams and had 15 tackles and a tackle for loss … two of his tackles were on special teams on kickoff coverage and on the punt team … amassed four tackles in his first start of the year vs. Baylor (11/14) … combined for six total tackles in season finale vs. Kansas (12/5), including one for loss.
2019: Appeared in 11 games (two starts) at safety as a true freshman and registered 16 tackles (including one for loss) and a fumble recovery … transitioned to the secondary after playing running back in high school … recorded at least four tackles across three contests … had one tackle in collegiate debut vs. Montana State (8/31) … recorded his first career fumble recovery vs. Oklahoma State (10/5) and added four tackles.
Attended Carl Albert (Oklahoma City, OK) High School … named Oklahoma 5A Player of the Year as a senior running back as well as the Big All-City Offensive Player of the Year by the Oklahoman … amassed 1,365 rushing yards and 24 TDs in 2018 and helped lead his team to its third straight class 5A state championship … compiled 1,977 rushing yards and 22 TDs on 215 carries as a junior and earned All-City and All-Conference accolades … father to Layla Grace Taylor, born March 2022 … earned his bachelor's degree in University Studies from Texas Tech in December of 2023.
