There were a bunch of things happening around the Dignity Health Training Center late last week, but one that fell between the cracks was the signing of wide receiver Simi Fehoko to a one-year deal. This isn't about the 6-foot-4 Fehoko -- who was a teammate of Michael Wilson at Stanford -- coming in to change the complexion of the wideout room. His six catches for 106 yards in eight games last season were all career highs in his four NFL season before suffering an elbow injury.
I'm sure he'll work to be a factor on offense. But what Fehoko can do is potentially make an impact on special teams, and that is an area that can get overlooked when the Cardinals assemble their roster for 2025.
As of today, wide receiver Zach Pascal is unsigned, and he played a big role on special teams as well as being a fourth/fifth receiver. Linebacker Dennis Gardeck has long been a key on special teams, and he remains unsigned. Linebacker Krys Barnes, the same.
Signing linebackers Akeem Davis-Gaither and Mykal Walker also can address special teams, depending on what their defensive roles turn out to be. But as the Cardinals add players, the transition game -- as Ron Wolfley likes to call it -- is a part of the equation.
