Cactus quarterback Deke Cisco has been named this week's Arizona Cardinals and Wells Fargo "High School Player-of-the-Week."
Cisco completed 11 of 19 passes for 88 yards and carried the ball 25 times for 166 rushing yards and three touchdowns including the game winner in overtime in the 42-41 overtime win over Saguaro High School last week.
The eighth-year Arizona Cardinals Football Club "Player-of-the-Week" award, presented by Wells Fargo, is selected by a local sports panel consisting of Cardinals Director of Community Relations Luis Zendejas, Community Relations Coordinator Sheldon Meeks, NBC-12 sports reporter Bruce Cooper, 16-year Arizona high school football official Bob Ferreira, AIA Director of Media Marketing Brian Bolitho, Channel 3 sports anchor Brad Cesmat, 1060 AM radio host Dan Manucci, and Wells Fargo representative Jeff Smith.
A football plaque acknowledging the award will be presented to Cisco by a Cardinals alumnus at a ceremony at Cactus High School (6330 W. Greenway Road, Glendale) on Friday, October 1 at 8:10 a.m. The Cobras travel to Queen Creek High School on Friday night.
