The Cardinals have lost some players, but they also have found some reinforcements.
Tight end Maxx Williams, who has been on injured reserve with an ankle injury since Sept. 21, was activated to the 53-man roster Saturday. The Cardinals also elevated two practice squad players, running back D.J. Foster and cornerback Jace Whittaker, as COVID replacements for cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. and linebacker Devon Kennard.
In addition, the Cardinals elevated defensive lineman Michael Dogbe from the practice squad, and released tight end Jordan Thomas.
Foster is expected to be the backup to starter Chase Edmonds because of his knowledge of the offense. With rookie Jonathan Ward playing on special teams, it's unlikely fellow rookie running back Eno Benjamin will be active Sunday against the Dolphins even with Kenyan Drake out with an ankle injury.
Williams, who just returned to practice earlier this week, should slide back into the starting lineup and give the Cardinals a steady blocking option at the position.
