The Cardinals made their first claim off waivers Tuesday, picking up linebacker Tanner Vallejo.
Vallejo was a sixth-round pick of the Bills in 2017 and played 15 games as a rookie before Buffalo released him after the season. The Browns claimed him, and he played 13 games for the Browns in 2018 before going on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. He excels on special teams.
Like the Cardinals, the Browns also had the No. 1 spot in waiver claims when they claimed Vallejo last season.
According to the NFL Network, the Jets, Giants, Bengals, Chargers and Vikings all put in claims on Vallejo.
Among the linebackers already on the Cardinals' roster are Josh Bynes, Haason Reddick, Dennis Gardeck, Joe Walker and Zeke Turner. Deone Bucannon and Gerald Hodges are scheduled to be unrestricted free agents, while Jeremy Cash, coming off a serious knee injury, will be a restricted free agent.
