The Cardinals will have a new kicker for the balance of at least the regular season after placing Zane Gonzalez on Injured Reserve on Saturday, keeping him out a minimum of three weeks with his back injury.
Meanwhile, defensive lineman Jordan Phillips, suffering from a hamstring injury, was placed on IR for a second time this year, meaning his season is over and he cannot return.
Replacing Gonzalez is veteran Mike Nugent, who was elevated from the practice squad for a second straight week. He will revert to the practice squad Monday, so to get him to the active roster going forward, the Cardinals will have to cut someone. Nugent converted all four of his field goals in his first game last weekend in place of Gonzalez, as well as making his two extra-point tries.
Tight end Darrell Daniels was activated off IR as well, making him available Sunday. The Cardinals also signed running back D.J. Foster to the active roster from the practice squad, giving the team options on both special teams and if Chase Edmonds (ankle) is limited.
The Cardinals also elevated linebacker Terrance Smith from the practice squad, likely to replace injured linebacker Kylie Fitts, who is out with a hamstring injury.
Backup center Lamont Gaillard was also added to the injury report Saturday as not-injury related and has been listed as out for Sunday's game. Gaillard posted on his Instagram account that his child, Pray Lou Rose Gaillard, was born Friday, which would be a pretty good non-injury related reason to be out.
In another development heading into the game, the Eagles announced Saturday that No. 1 cornerback Darius Slay, who has been trying to recover from a concussion, did not travel with the team and will not play Sunday. That would seem to bode well for the Cardinals, particularly No. 1 wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
