The Cardinals are bringing in a wide receiver who Kliff Kingsbury knows well.
Antoine Wesley, who spent the first two years of his NFL career in Baltimore, signed a one-year contract Friday. He played for Kingsbury in college at Texas Tech.
The Cardinals had two open roster spots prior to Wesley's signing.
Wesley was undrafted in 2019, signing with the Ravens after being part of Kingsbury's final Red Raiders team. He spent that season on the practice squad, and then spent 2020 on injured reserve with a bad shoulder.
At the 2019 Scouting combine, Wesley called Kingsbury "a father figure." In the 2018 season, coming off a serious labrum injury, Wesley flourished in Kingsbury's offense, with 88 receptions for 1,410 yards and nine touchdowns. His first two college seasons, he only had 10 receptions total.
The Cardinals already have a loaded wide receivers room both in talent and numbers. Wesley is the 13th wideout on the roster, and that doesn't count the undecided Larry Fitzgerald. DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green, Christian Kirk and rookie Rondale Moore are locks, and the Cardinals also have third-year players Andy Isabella and KeeSean Johnson, along with A.J. Richardson, Rico Gafford, Krishawn Hogan, JoJo Ward, Andre Baccellia and Isaac Whitney.
