The Cardinals added to their wide receiver room Tuesday, signing Damiere Byrd to a one-year contract.
Byrd spent the last four seasons with the Carolina Panthers after coming into the league as an undrafted rookie in 2015.
The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Byrd played in 17 games over three seasons with the Panthers after spending his rookie year on the practice squad. He caught 12 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns, and also worked as both a kickoff returner and punt returner.
Wide receiver remains high on the priority list for the Cardinals as they head into next month's draft, with the need to add speed on the outside.
"I still think we need to look at somebody outside who can take the top off a little bit and scare people as a vertical threat," coach Kliff Kingsbury said Tuesday during the NFL owners meetings. "It looked like last year that was lacking a little bit particularly when Christian (Kirk) got hurt. They'll sit on you in this league if you don't have one guy that scare you."
