Cardinals president Michael Bidwill, who served as an assistant United States District Attorney before he began working with the team to get University of Phoenix Stadium built and then to run the franchise, was honored by the Phoenix Chapter of the Federal Bar Association Thursday night.

The presentation was made at the FBA's annual holiday party at the Phoenix Art Museum.

"The Holiday Party is our most popular event," the FBA posted on their website. "In past years, attendees have included a broad spectrum of notable attorneys in the Phoenix legal community, and many federal judges. This year we are thrilled to honor Michael J. Bidwill, President, Arizona Cardinals, and former Assistant United States Attorney."

The FBA represents the Federal legal profession. It consist of more than 18,000 federal lawyers, including 1,500 federal judges, who work together to promote the sound administration of justice and integrity, quality and independence of the judiciary.

The local chapter contains about 285 members in private practice, government agencies, local law schools, the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Bidwill was a federal prosecutor based in Phoenix from 1990-96.

It is the latest in a handful of awards and honors presented to Bidwill in recent years. In January, Bidwill was inducted into the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame. In 2015, he was given the prestigious Vision Award from the Greater Phoenix Convention and Visitors Bureau. In 2014, he was given that year's Transformational Leader Award from the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
