WHAT: Kurt Warner, Arizona Cardinals QB, and his wife Brenda, a former Marine, will be at the Wal-Mart in Tempe to kickoff the first annual America's Team Ball Drive, a collection of sports equipment to benefit soldiers serving overseas. Wal-Mart and the Arizona Cardinals will present the first sporting goods donations to soldiers who have returned from action overseas. These men and women can speak firsthand to the need for equipment and activities to take a break from the realities of war. Wal-Mart will also present a check to cover the costs of shipping the items abroad.
From October 1st – 14th, Valley residents are encouraged to donate new and gently-used sports equipment at area Wal-Mart stores. The drive will culminate with a collection at the University of Phoenix Stadium prior to the Panthers vs. Cardinals game on October 14th. A complete list of drop-off locations is available at kurtwarner.org.
Packages from Home will use its established networks with the military to get the equipment into the hands of soldiers.
