The NFL announced on Wednesday that the Indianapolis Colts would be "hosting" an international game in Berlin, Germany this coming season. In itself, OK, fine. Except the Cardinals do have a road game to Indianapolis in 2025, so that opens up a possibility -- how large, I have no idea -- of the team going to Germany next season.
The league has announced there will be three games in England, but the three teams "hosting" those games -- the Jaguars, Jets and Browns -- eliminate the Cards from that equation. The Cardinals don't play the Browns or Jets, and while they play the Jaguars, that game will be at State Farm Stadium.
There will also be a game played in Madrid, Spain. The host team for that has not yet been announced, although if it is given to a team with marketing rights in Spain, it would be the Bears and Dolphins -- also teams not on the Cardinals' opponents list. (UPDATE: And indeed, the Dolphins were awarded that game.)
The Colts, who are one of the teams with marketing rights in Germany, won't know their opposition until the schedule is released after the draft. It may not be the Cardinals, who last played internationally in 2022 in Mexico. But it could be.
