The NFL is in the midst of unveiling their all-time NFL team here in the 100th season of the league. Coming Friday is the announcement of the cornerbacks and safeties, and the Cardinals have three guys best know for their time with the Cards who are finalists.
Two are Hall of Famers, in cornerback Aeneas Williams and safety Larry Wilson. No surprise they are only the list. The third? Patrick Peterson, who isn't necessarily a surprise given his career but given the depth at the position over the years, perhaps a little bit so.
The all-time team will feature seven cornerbacks and six safeties. The finalist list features 16 corners and 14 safeties, so a significant amount of guys will be pared down.
Peterson isn't having his best season, derailed by his suspension and never really getting going from there. But it's impossible to ignore the first eight seasons of his career, when he deservedly made his name as an elite player. For him -- or any of the three -- to make the final all-time team would be a tremendous honor.
The all-time team reveal show is on Fridays at 6 p.m. Arizona time on NFL Network.
UPDATE: Wilson was the Cardinal named to the all-time team.
