Covid has taken some key player from the Colts Saturday night, but injuries have sidelined some key Cardinals.
Running back James Conner (heel) and wide receiver Rondale Moore (ankle) are both inactive for the Christmas night game.
With Moore out, the Cardinals signed wide receiver Greg Dortch to the active roster from the practice squad. With Conner out, Chase Edmonds will get the bulk of the work, backed up by Eno Benjamin and Jonathan Ward, with Ward the likely choice in short-yardage and goal-line situations.
Center Rodney Hudson remains on the Covid list and will miss a second game. Punter Andy Lee is also on the Covid list.
In addition to signing Dortch to the roster, the Cardinals also made defensive lineman Josh Mauro and cornerback Kevin Peterson Covid replacements for Hudson and Lee. Punter Ryan Winslow is a standard practice squad elevation.
The Colts, who were already without three staring offensive linemen, including All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson to Covid, put Pro Bowl linebacker Darius Leonard on the Covid list Saturday. The Colts are missing defensive starters Leonard, CB Rock Ya-Sin, and safety Khari Willis because of Covid.
The Cardinals full inactive list:
- WR Rondale Moore (ankle)
- RB James Conner (heel)
- QB Trace McSorley
- CB Breon Borders
- DL Zach Kerr
- DL Jordan Phillips (knee)
Meanwhile, injured tight end Maxx Williams is still ready for some holiday football:
