The Cardinals agreed to bring back Zay Jones to their wide receiver room, and they are ready to bring back Greg Dortch as well.
The Cardinals tendered the veteran wideout, a restricted free agent, at the right of first refusal level right just before the new league year started on Wednesday. When and if Dortch signs the one-year tender, it would give him a $3.3 million salary for the season. Until he signs it, he is free to shop himself around the league for another deal, although the Cardinals can match any potential offer he gets.
If Dortch were to sign an offer sheet and the Cardinals decided not to match, the Cards would not be due any compensation.
The tender offer isn't guaranteed, so signing it doesn't necessarily lock Dortch into a roster spot for 2025. But Jonathan Gannon has long talked about how much he likes Dortch's makeup.
Dortch has spent four seasons with the Cardinals, although his limited time in 2021 kept him from reaching unrestricted free agent status this year. In 54 games with the Cardinals, he has 116 catches for 1,104 yards and 7 touchdowns. Last season, he had 37 receptions for 342 yards and 3 touchdowns playing all 17 games.
