The Cardinals will be down to a third-string right tackle against the Lions Sunday with veteran Kelvin Beachum sitting out with a hamstring injury.
Beachum showed up on the injury report on Thursday with a hamstring issue, and did not practice on Friday. He was already a replacement, with starter Jonah Williams on IR with a knee injury.
Jackson Barton is expected to start in his place, with veteran Charlie Heck as a backup. Both Barton and Heck were elevated from the practice squad on Saturday. Whoever was going to play was going to be tested, with Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson -- who leads the NFL with 5.5 sacks -- on the field.
The Cardinals offense, however, is built to handle such things as well, with as much as offensive coordinator Drew Petzing utilizes two- and three-tight ends. Help for whomever is blocking Hutchinson was inevitable, whether Beachum played or not.
