The Cardinals traded down in the second round of the draft needing a cornerback. Then right before they picked, the corners came quickly off the board.
Cooper DeJean.
Kool-Aid McKinstry.
Kamari Lassiter.
Then, at 43, the Cardinals with the fourth straight pick, took Max Melton, and were happy. But as Melton arrived with the rest of the rookies on Thursday to Tempe, and the question was raised (OK, I raised it) to Melton about if he was aware that there were those who felt the Cardinals missed out on other cornerbacks and essentially settled for Melton.
"Everybody is going to have an opinion," Melton said. "Those things are like Gucci belts. Everyone has one, know what I'm sayin'? Exactly. Everyone is going to have an opinion, no one is ever going to be 100 percent on the same page, especially when you are talking about millions of fans. But come the season, once we get a couple weeks in, I think they'll be happy with their pick."
