Part of the NFL experience every season at this time is the wait to see how the league will schedule out its Week 18 games based on the various playoff possibilities.

The Cardinals, hosting the San Francisco 49ers for the final game, aren't part of that equation. So it wasn't a surprise to have the NFL schedule the game for a normal Sunday time slot on Jan. 5, kicking off at 2:25 p.m.

The game will air on Fox.

The NFL announced the final weekend schedule immediately after the Commanders beat the Falcons on Sunday night football (a result that also officially gave the Los Angeles Rams the NFC West division title.)

The Vikings at Lions game that will determine the NFC's No. 1 overall seed and the NFC North title will be featured on "Sunday Night Football" as the final game of the regular season.

Both the 49ers at Cardinals and Seahawks at Rams games will be played at the same time.

The NFL made their two Saturday games the two remaining AFC North games: Steelers-Bengals and Browns-Ravens.

The Cardinals beat the 49ers, 24-23, in Week 5 at San Francisco. If the 49ers beat the Lions on "Monday Night Football," the finale will determine if the Cardinals finish in third or last in the division. If the 49ers lose to the Lions, the Cardinals will clinch third because they will win the tiebreaker with the 49ers.
