The Super Bowl just ended -- as did the NFL season -- but the business of the 2022 NFL season is already underway for the Cardinals and the rest of the league.
Scouts are in Tempe as the Cardinals conduct another round of draft meetings, the Combine is coming back and free agency is a month away. Here is a look at important dates this offseason:
Feb. 22-March 8: Window within which teams can designate players with the franchise or transition tag.
March 1-7: After a year in which it was cancelled because of the pandemic, the Scouting Combine will be held in Indianapolis.
March 14-16: Clubs may begin contacting and entering contract negotiations with agents of unrestricted free agents, a time often referred to as the "legal tampering" period.
March 16, 1 p.m. Arizona time: The free agency period begins on the first day of the 2022 league year. Teams can also officially execute trades to which had previously been agreed.
April 4: Teams with new head coaches may begin offseason workout programs.
April 18: Teams with returning head coaches may begin offseason workout programs.
April 22: Deadline for restricted free agents to sign offer sheets from clubs.
April 28-30: The 2022 NFL Draft is held in Las Vegas.
