Red And White Work, And Training Camp Aftermath

It turned out Saturday was about outside linebackers -- the one who got a contract extension (Zaven Collins) and the one that was lost for the season (BJ Ojulari). Defensively, the Cardinals are hurting with Ojulari down, and there are some others missing practice right now with lesser maladies -- Justin Jones, Max Melton, Kei'Trel Clark.

But the defense again played pretty well in front of a huge, Cardinals flag-waving crowd in the final actual practice for a few days.

"We got ripped a few days ago," Collins said. "That was probably why."

The Cardinals have a Monday walkthrough before coming back to a regular practice Tuesday (Tuesday and Wednesday are the final two open practices of camp at State Farm Stadium, although both of the practices in Indianapolis will be open in about 10 days.)

Dennis Gardeck slid into the first-unit OLB spot that Ojulari manned. But you figure a roster move is coming, and doing it over the next few days while there is time to breathe makes sense.

-- An update on those wishing to get a Marvin Harrison Jr. jersey. NFL Network reported that Fanatics has been asked by MHJ's reps not to sell the jersey while the player and Fanatics have their ongoing dispute about Harrison's deal -- or non-deal -- with the company.

-- The attendance for Saturday's practice was 26,000, a new record for the event.

"Having the fans out there, it almost felt game-like," wide receiver Michael Wilson said.

-- The Cardinals haven't been in four-wide much at all, although they used it a couple times on Saturday (Zach Pascal was WR4 with Zay Jones still sidelined). On one of the plays, Kyler Murray tried to find Greg Dortch but Sean Murphy-Bunting broke up the play in zone with a great backpedal. Safety Darren Hall also had a pick of Clayton Tune off the body of tight end Blake Whiteheart. Linebacker Markus Bailey also had a nice thud on tight end Travis Vokolek, breaking up a pass.

-- Vokolek did have a nice catch in one-on-ones earlier.

-- All that said, Dortch and Wilson are having good camps and this passing game looks like it'll be just fine.
